Dahlias by the Dozen — Introducing My Flowers
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself — and the flowers behind Dahlias by the Dozen!🌸
My name is Ashlynn, and this is my third year growing flowers. When my boyfriend and I bought our first home in Westville about 2½ years ago, I decided to try my hand at growing 35 dahlias. Little did I know, they would be the gateway drug to growing cut flowers. 😅
I quickly found myself giving flowers to just about everyone and their brother, and they were such a hit that my best friend asked if I would help with the flowers for her wedding.
Last year, in the midst of Respiratory Therapy School, I poured countless hours into growing, harvesting, and preparing flowers for her October wedding. I expanded my little cut-flower garden exponentially to make the wedding a reality — and it has only continued to grow from there!
Now, in year 3, after graduating and passing my boards to become a Registered Respiratory Therapist, I’ve decided to take the next step and open a self-serve flower stand under the name Dahlias by the Dozen 🌿
While I grow a wide variety of flowers, dahlias will always be my specialty. Every bloom is carefully tended using organic and pollinator-friendly growing practices. That even includes individually organza-bagging each dahlia bloom to protect it from hungry pests. 😅 It’s a tedious job, but an important one — helping me protect the pollinators while also producing beautiful, quality blooms.🐝🦋
