Westport River Gardeners

Westport River Gardeners WRG is a club for learning, sharing and community service. No gardening experience is necessary, and all are welcome to join.

Yearly membership is $35 & guests are welcome to attend individual presentations for $5. The purpose of the club is to meet people, have fun, and raise funds to support town projects. Past projects include cleaning and providing new plantings in the round garden at the library, decorating the library for Christmas, and maintaining several other planters around Westport. Recent enhancement projects are the stone wall on Hix Bridge Road between Route 88 and Main Road with the large stone etched with “Westport”, the rockery and related plantings in front of The Town Hall, and the numerous bulb plantings near the new fire station, library, and surrounding areas. Westport River Gardeners met on Saturday, September 12th to hear presenter Nico Lebreux from the Wild Heart Herb House in New Bedford speak about Medicinal Herbs for Wellness.

Thank you to members Catherine and Steph for creating beautiful bouquets to raffle off to lucky members as a thank you just for being in attendance.

Thank you also to member Carolyn for bringing seeds and spring bulbs to share with the group.

New Location/Time for Next Meeting:

The Saturday, September 12th meeting will be held at the Macomber Community House at 930 Main Road at 12:45 PM. The presenter is from the Wild Herb House located at the Haskell Gardens Entrance in New Bedford, and the topic is medicinal herbs.

Guests are welcome to attend individual presentations for $5 or join for $35 for a full-year membership.

*(This one-time change was made because the Westport Public Library is holding their book sale on this date.)

On Wednesday, member Carolyn hosted the 3rd in a series of summer garden tours at her beautiful property. Her gardens and pathways are a mix of colorful and interesting perennials, bulbs, shrubs, trees and even a collection of succulents vacationing on the porch after spending the winter in her greenhouse. Thank you to Carolyn for the tour and her hospitality!

Yesterday the Westport River Gardeners visited member Kathy's gardens, as we continued our summer tours visiting gardens of club members.
It was a beautiful evening to visit her mature gardens with lovely daylillies and hosta,and more .We thank her for sharing her gardens with us!
