The Dog didn’t want us to update the bathroom.

Some of the older homes in columbus still have all plaster walls. Think Bexley, Upper Arlington, grandview and Clintonville. These renovations can prove real difficult because of the challenges added with lead pipes, and terribly messy demolition.

That’s why on these older remodels, we plan to take the project down to bare studs before building it back up. It allows us to replace any damage behind the walls and makes for a better end result.

I promise you, even the dog Bella was happy with the transformation.

Who’s gonna say it?

WALLPAPER IS BACK!
Even though a lot of us have terrible experiences attempting to peel it from its glue- pasted wall, it’s still relevant.

I guess it’s a way to get unique personality in an otherwise bland area. Let’s be honest, it’s affordable too!

Am I going crazy?

LED strip lighting everywhere! Is it too much?

It is pretty standard nowadays to put in task lighting in the form of under cabinet led strip lighting. But for this project, we wanted MORE!

Lighting under the upper cabinets, yes, but also under the base cabinets, under the bench seat and on top of the bench seat.

So let me know, did we over do it? Or are we on to something?

We had no idea…

Aharon and I were good friends in high school, but how could we ever have expected to create our business together over 15 years later?

So do I just keep him around because I trust him? That is certainly a good reason, but not the only one.

Aharon also has many years of experience in the commercial plumbing industry. So from his vantage point, most residential remodels are fairly simple. Aharon also has an odd special way of remembering information and measurements. Many times, if I can’t remember something, he blurts out the answer without much thought.

There are many reasons to keep him around, and I’m not sure how Mossman Made would function without his special skills. Thanks Aharon for the years of teamwork and cheers to many more!

There is a lot of potential to lose a finger.

Some say it is a 21% chance that a carpenter will have a significant hand injury as a result of their work in the span of their career. Providing for my family through working with my hands has always meant a lot to me. But there have been some close calls, especially in the early days. Always check where your fingers are, always think what could go wrong, always be careful. Shortcuts don’t really help in the long game. Patience does.

We’ve only been in business for a few years. But if we perform 12-16 renovations a year, how long will it be until we have renovated the ENTIRE city of columbus? Or All of Ohio? OR THE ENTIRE WORLD!?

If I mess this up, I’m buying my client ANOTHER set of new cabinets…

I’ve never cut under cabinet lighting into the bottom of a cabinet, but this was the perfect time to put the skills to test! Using a router and an edge guide, we cut a channel into these brand new cabinets to recess the lighting. Luckily, we had a few mis-ordered cabinets that I could practice on before I messed with the real ones. Still one of my favorite custom touches in one of our kitchens to date!
