This is what happens when a garage door comes off its tracks. And it almost never happens without warning.
Before a door reaches this point it almost always sends signals. A slight wobble during operation. A scraping sound along one side. The door moving unevenly or hesitating on one side more than the other.
Most homeowners notice these things and keep using the door anyway. By the time it comes off the track completely the damage has usually spread to the panels, the hardware, and sometimes the opener.
When this happens do not try to force the door back manually and do not use the opener to push through it. Both make the situation significantly worse.
A door off its tracks needs a professional assessment before it moves again.
At Rightly Garage Doors we perform a full 29-point inspection on every repair call across Salida, Westcliffe, Colorado Springs, and nearby Colorado communities.
