Bagala Window Works helps clients restore the beauty and integrity of their historic wooden windows and doors while increasing energy efficiency. We practice traditional techniques along with proven new methods to enhance the value and durability of our restorations. We are a small team of skilled craftspeople who value a healthy and respectful work environment, with a passion for quality and craftsmanship.

We are currently looking for 1 or 2 Window Techs to join our team.

Entry-level Window Technicians perform many window restoration tasks, ultimately working to master all skills. These skills include safely stripping lead paint, sanding sash, priming, and painting sash. This position would involve removing and installing sash at residential/commercial site locations. Other responsibilities may include using power tools, performing stabilization and repair work, glazing sash, and applying weatherstrip.

• Knows when to ask questions and seek guidance from colleagues
Requirements:
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.
• Some work on ladders and staging
• Some power tool and hand tool knowledge
• Driver's license
• Being a team player is a must!
• Ability to follow health & safety requirements, including lead-safe hygiene practices; power equipment clearance, and use.
We are offering permanent full-time positions, beginning with a 2-month trial period. Starting pay depends on experience in the field. Applicants with an interest in historic buildings, historic preservation or conservation, and/or experience making art are encouraged to apply.

Salary: $18.25 - $26.00 depending on experience in the field

I've worked for Bagala for over 10 years and really enjoy this work community and how the team has evolved. At a jobsite, every project has something new and I enjoy the challenges. Preservation In Shop Wood Worker

Job description:

Bagala Window Works helps clients restore the beauty and integrity of their historic wooden windows and doors while increasing energy efficiency. We use traditional techniques alongside proven modern methods to enhance the value and durability of our restorations. We are a small team of skilled craftspeople who value a healthy, respectful work environment and a passion for quality and craftsmanship.

We are currently looking for a Preservation In Shop Wood Worker who is experienced in wood window restoration, sash fabrication and general preservation carpentry.

Daily Tasks:

Repairing old sash with dutchman and epoxy methods
Modifying window sash to receive various forms of weather-stripping
Maintaining machinery
Fabricating and assembling custom wood primary sash and storm windows
Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment
Collaborate with production manager, floor manager and other window technicians to efficiently complete tasks to a high-quality standard

What We’re Looking For:

Prior experience with traditional dutchman repair techniques and preservation-approved epoxy systems
Prior experience with traditional sash joinery and tools used to make sash a plus
Ability to produce measurements and plans for wood window fabrication
A team player who communicates respectfully and collaborates well
A self-starter who is organized, punctual, and able to stay focused
Eagerness to develop skills

Physical Requirements:
Power tool and hand tool experience
Driver's license
Follow health & safety requirements, including lead-safe hygiene practices, power equipment clearance, and use.

Employee Profile Alert!!!

Ty is a Texas transplant who originally made the trek to Maine in 2020 to serve in the Maine Conservation Corps for two consecutive seasons. Since then, organic produce farming has satisfied their love of working outdoors with the land and they can still be seen on the farm on Saturdays.

They joined BWW in 2025 after a long search for a welcoming place to learn from skilled craftspeople and continue exploring their passion for craft.

Outside of the shop, Ty loves to explore the great outdoors with their partner, Lou.
