⛈️ Treasure Coast — What a Night.

Last night brought some intense weather across the Treasure Coast — heavy rain, nonstop lightning, waterspouts and even tornado activity. 🌪️⚡️🌧️

Most importantly, we hope you and your families are safe. Homes, roofs, fences and material possessions can be repaired or replaced. People can’t.

Our own family spent roughly 6:30–7:00 PM in a secure location, and I know many families throughout our community were doing the same.

Now that daylight is here, take a look around your property. Storm damage isn’t always obvious from the ground.

🔥 IT’S HOT OUT THERE — SHOW SOME GRACE. 🔥

To every roofer, HVAC tech, landscaper, construction worker, delivery driver, utility worker, and every other service professional working outside in this brutal heat this week — we see you and we appreciate you.

If your roofing crew or service technician is running a little behind, have some patience. If they need an extra break, let them take it. If they need to sit under that shade tree for a few minutes, let them. And if the job doesn’t get finished today because the heat became too much, understand that too.

Offer them a cold water, a Coke, or a Gatorade. Maybe even throw them a tip and tell them you appreciate what they’re doing.

That person on your roof, in your attic, in your yard, or working on the side of the road is somebody’s husband, wife, son, daughter, dad, or mom — and they’re working hard in some dangerous heat.

☀️ It’s hot. Really hot. A little patience and kindness can go a long way.

Let’s love on people the way God calls us to love one another, and extend to others the same grace and love He gives us every day. ❤️🙏

Be kind. Be patient. Keep them hydrated. And thank the people working in this heat.

🚨 FLORIDA ROOFING CONTRACTORS & WORKERS’ COMP — IMPORTANT INFORMATION 🚨

There seems to be a lot of confusion about whether a company must hold a Florida roofing contractor license in order to obtain legitimate workers’ compensation insurance for roofing employees.

A roofing license and workers’ compensation coverage are two separate requirements.

In Florida, construction companies with employees are generally required to carry workers’ compensation insurance, and the policy needs to properly reflect the type of work those employees are actually performing — including roofing.

However, having roofing workers’ comp does NOT give an unlicensed company the legal authority to perform roofing work that requires a Florida contractor license.

This becomes especially important when one company holds the roofing license and another company is supplying or paying the roofing labor. Simply calling workers “subcontractors” or having a workers’ comp policy does not automatically make that arrangement compliant.
