Positive design pressure measures a window's resistance to wind pushing directly against the building — the force most people picture when they think about hurricane winds.
Negative design pressure measures resistance to wind pulling away from the structure, which happens on the leeward side of a building during a storm and around roof edges and corners where suction forces build.

August is typically the hottest month in Florida. It's also when the energy-saving case for impact windows is easiest to feel.

→ Improper installation can void the product warranty entirely, leaving you unprotected on materials that aren't cheap.
→ Inspectors are specifically trained to look for installation errors on impact-rated products, and self-installs fail inspection at a meaningfully higher rate.

Every installation follows the same sequence regardless of the calendar: proper opening assessment, correct product selection for your wind zone and DP rating, permit submission, and a clean, code-compliant install.
When contractors skip steps to move faster during busy season, the corners that get cut are usually invisible until the moment they matter most — improper flashing, incorrect fastener spacing, missing permits.
