"We can't be out of the house for a week" is one of the most common concerns we hear before a project starts.
Most residential installations don't require you to leave your home. Our crews work room by room, or side of the property by side, so you retain functional living space throughout the project in almost every case.
For commercial properties, we scope installation in phases specifically designed around your operating hours β€” after-hours work, weekend scheduling, or section-by-section install while the rest of the property stays open.
We ask about your schedule and constraints during the assessment, before a single date is set. The plan gets built around your life or your business, not the other way around.
If timing has been the thing holding you back, let's talk about what a realistic schedule actually looks like for your property.

Wind doesn't just push. It pulls. Your windows need to be rated for both.
Positive design pressure measures a window's resistance to wind pushing directly against the building β€” the force most people picture when they think about hurricane winds.
Negative design pressure measures resistance to wind pulling away from the structure, which happens on the leeward side of a building during a storm and around roof edges and corners where suction forces build.
A window can be strong against positive pressure and still fail under negative pressure if it isn't rated and installed correctly for both. This is a common gap in older, non-impact-rated windows.
Every product we install carries tested ratings for both positive and negative pressure, matched to your property's exposure category.

August is typically the hottest month in Florida. It's also when the energy-saving case for impact windows is easiest to feel.
The same laminated construction that stops wind-borne debris also blocks a significant portion of solar heat gain and UV transmission. For homes and buildings running air conditioning nearly around the clock this time of year, that difference shows up directly on the utility bill.
Clients who install in early or mid-summer often tell us the same thing by September β€” the AC runs less, the rooms near the windows stay more even in temperature, and the sun-faded furniture problem quietly goes away too.
Storm protection gets people to call. Energy performance is often what makes them glad they did.
Both cases are real. Together, they make August a practical month to install, not just a defensive one.

We get asked this more often than you'd think, usually from handy homeowners looking to save on labor costs.
Technically, in most jurisdictions, a homeowner can pull an owner-builder permit and self-install. In practice, we'd steer you away from it, and here's why:
β†’ Impact windows require precise flashing and fastening to perform as tested β€” done wrong, the glass can be code-compliant while the installation isn't.
β†’ Improper installation can void the product warranty entirely, leaving you unprotected on materials that aren't cheap.
β†’ Inspectors are specifically trained to look for installation errors on impact-rated products, and self-installs fail inspection at a meaningfully higher rate.
The product is engineered to a standard. The installation has to meet that same standard, or the rating on the glass doesn't mean much.

A quick weekend exercise β€” walk your property and answer these honestly.
β†’ Do all your windows and glass doors carry visible impact ratings, or are you assuming they do?
β†’ If you had to show proof of wind mitigation to your insurance carrier tomorrow, could you find the paperwork?
β†’ Is there any opening on your property β€” a side door, a garage window, a storefront panel β€” that you've never actually checked?
Most property owners can answer the first two. It's usually that third question that turns up a gap.
If today's walkthrough left you with more questions than answers, a free assessment will clear it up quickly.

Every year, we get a wave of calls in September from property owners who wish they'd called in August.
By the time a storm is in the forecast, permitting offices are backed up, installation crews are booked through the season, and product lead times stretch out. Owners who wait aren't just risking exposure during the storm β€” they're often paying more, waiting longer, and settling for whatever's available rather than what's right for their property.
There's also the insurance side: if your wind mitigation report isn't filed before renewal, you miss a full policy year of the discount impact windows can unlock.
August is the month where the math still works in your favor. Permits still move at a normal pace. Crews still have room. Product is still in supply.
That window narrows fast from here.

Peak season creates pressure to move fast. We understand the urgency. We still won't cut corners.
Every installation follows the same sequence regardless of the calendar: proper opening assessment, correct product selection for your wind zone and DP rating, permit submission, and a clean, code-compliant install.
When contractors skip steps to move faster during busy season, the corners that get cut are usually invisible until the moment they matter most β€” improper flashing, incorrect fastener spacing, missing permits.
We'd rather tell you honestly that your installation is scheduled for three weeks out than rush a job and leave you with a problem you won't discover until a storm tests it.
Fast and right aren't mutually exclusive. But if you ever have to choose, we choose right.

For commercial property owners, storm risk isn't measured in inconvenience. It's measured in downtime.
A retail location, medical office, or multi-tenant building that loses power, suffers glass failure, or takes on water damage isn't just facing repair costs β€” it's facing lost revenue for every day it's closed.
Impact windows change that equation. Instead of boarding up before every watch and unboarding after, your building stays operational, protected, and open.
We work with property managers and business owners to scope commercial installations that minimize disruption to daily operations β€” phased scheduling, after-hours work where needed, and code documentation your insurance carrier will want to see.
If your business has weathered a storm closure before, let's talk about what protection actually looks like this year.
