You generally don't want to remove more than 30% of the plant tissue, but you still want to remove dead grass, leaves, and other debris, especially right in the spring if there's any excessive thatch buildup or leaves smothering your turf after winter. Spring Raking will remove grass blades that died in the winter. If you see any matted patches, in which the blades are stuck together, this can be caused by a disease known as "snow mold". New grass may have difficulty growing in the springtime because of this. Proper lawn maintenance may also require you to deal with soil compaction, or thinning out of select grassy areas. We can perform a core aeration to the turf as well, going over it multiple passes if needed for the tougher jobs. This will make for great results every so often to loosen up high traffic area. Water 3x a day or more for 5-10 minutes a zone for 3 weeks and bring some new life to your property! Best results are achieved early Spring thru May, or September before frost comes in the fall. Landscape looking a little ruff around the edges?? Periodic pulling/spraying weeds from rocks, removing any sucker trees, spreading a pre emergent to help keep them from returning. A look around at the rest of the areas plants needing attention would be a fitting time to prune any shrubs and perennials that are in that area as well.
