⚡ Proper Generac Generator Transfer Switch Installation ⚡

This is what a properly installed Generac automatic transfer switch and load-management system should look like.

When utility power goes out, the transfer switch safely disconnects the home from the utility and automatically transfers the electrical load to the standby generator. Once utility power returns, it switches the home back and allows the generator to shut down properly.

The three smaller Generac boxes mounted beside the transfer switch are load-management modules, also known as load-shedding modules. Each one is assigned a priority and controls a larger electrical load, such as an air-conditioning system or another high-demand appliance.

If the generator begins approaching its capacity, these modules temporarily shut off lower-priority loads. They then reconnect those loads in a controlled sequence when sufficient generator power becomes available. This protects the generator from overload while helping the homeowner get the most from the backup system.

A whole-house generator is only as dependable as the electrical system connecting it. Proper wiring, load management, grounding, bonding, and testing are essential for safe and reliable operation.

⚡ NEW 40-AMP ELECTRIC RANGE CIRCUIT ⚡

Converting from a gas range to electric? The existing electrical system needs to be evaluated before that new appliance gets plugged in.

For this project, we installed a new dedicated 240-volt, 40-amp circuit and range receptacle to provide the proper power for the homeowner's new electric range.

This installation included:

- New dedicated 40-amp circuit
- New 240-volt range receptacle
- Properly sized wiring for the appliance
- New circuit breaker at the electrical panel
- Proper grounding
- Secure electrical connections
- Installation completed to current electrical code requirements

Large appliances such as electric ranges require dedicated circuits designed for their specific electrical load. Simply having an outlet nearby doesn't mean the electrical system is properly sized to handle the appliance.

Before converting from gas to electric, it's also important to make sure the home's overall electrical service has enough capacity for the additional load.

Planning a new electric range, dryer, EV charger, or other high-demand appliance?

Prolux Electrical Solutions can evaluate your electrical system and install the proper dedicated circuit from the panel to the appliance.

⚡ NEW 200-AMP SERVICE UPGRADE | MEDIA, PA ⚡

Another electrical service upgrade completed by Prolux Electrical Solutions!

This Media, PA home was operating on an older 75-amp electrical service, which offered very limited capacity for today's electrical demands. We upgraded the home to a modern 200-amp service designed to provide greater capacity, reliability, and room for future electrical upgrades.

This project included:

- New 200-amp electrical service
- New 200-amp underground meter equipment
- New Siemens electrical panel
- Brand-new circuit breakers
- New grounding electrode system
- Water main grounding and bonding
- Hot and cold water piping properly bonded
- Additional panel space for future circuits
- Clean, professional, code-compliant installation

Upgrading to 200 amps isn't just about having a larger electrical panel. It gives homeowners the capacity to accommodate today's electrical demands and prepare for future additions such as EV chargers, electric ranges, heat pumps, hot tubs, generators, and other high-demand equipment.

If you have an older 60, 75, or 100-amp electrical service and you're considering adding new electrical equipment, having your service evaluated is a smart first step.

🌬️ Outdoor Ceiling Fan Installation Complete

A covered patio should be just as comfortable as the inside of your home. For this project, we installed a brand-new outdoor-rated ceiling fan along with a new dedicated wall switch, giving the homeowner complete control of the fan from inside the house.

Project highlights:
- New outdoor-rated ceiling fan
- New dedicated wall switch for fan control
- New wiring from the switch to the fan
- Properly supported ceiling fan box
- Clean, code-compliant installation

Adding a ceiling fan to your covered patio improves airflow, helps keep insects away by circulating the air, and creates a more enjoyable outdoor living space during the warmer months.

Whether you're relaxing with your morning coffee or entertaining family and friends, an outdoor ceiling fan is one of the best upgrades you can make to your patio.

Thinking about adding a ceiling fan where one has never been before? Prolux Electrical Solutions can install the wiring, switch, and fan from start to finish.

🔨 Behind Every Beautiful Kitchen Is Quality Rough Wiring

Before the drywall goes up and the finished fixtures are installed, the rough wiring has to be done correctly. This is the foundation of a safe and reliable electrical system.

For this kitchen remodel, we completed a clean, code-compliant rough-in that included:

- New circuits for the kitchen
- Dedicated lighting for the island
- Hallway lighting
- Three-way switches so every entrance and exit has its own light switch
- Properly secured and supported wiring
- Neatly organized electrical boxes for an easier finish installation

A quality rough-in isn't something most homeowners will ever see once the walls are closed, but it's one of the most important parts of the entire project. Taking the time to wire everything correctly today helps ensure years of safe, dependable operation.

At Prolux Electrical Solutions, we believe the work behind the walls should be just as professional as the finished product you see every day.

⚠️ Electrical Safety Tip: Is This Double-Tapped Breaker Safe?

One of the most common issues we find during electrical inspections is a "double-tapped" breaker. This happens when two wires are installed under a breaker terminal that is only designed and listed for one conductor.

Why is this a problem?

- The terminal may not clamp both wires evenly.
- One conductor can become loose over time.
- Loose connections create heat.
- Excessive heat can damage the breaker and, in severe cases, become a fire hazard.

While a few breakers are specifically listed to accept two conductors, most standard residential breakers are not. That's why every installation should follow the manufacturer's instructions as required by NEC 110.3(B).

The good news is that many double-tap issues can be corrected quickly using the proper breaker, an approved breaker designed for two conductors, or by adding an approved pigtail, depending on the installation.

If you haven't had your electrical panel inspected in years, it may be hiding issues like this that aren't visible until the cover is removed.

⚡ IS YOUR ELECTRICAL SERVICE READY FOR TODAY'S DEMANDS? ⚡

We recently evaluated this older 75-amp electrical service after the homeowner wanted to replace a gas range with an electric range.

While the home currently uses several gas appliances, adding electric equipment can significantly increase the electrical demand on the service.

During our inspection we found:
- Older 75-amp main service
- 100-amp breaker feeding a subpanel
- Limited capacity for future upgrades
- Aging equipment that should be evaluated

Before adding an EV charger, electric range, heat pump, water heater, dryer, or hot tub, a proper NEC Article 220 load calculation should be performed to determine if the existing service is adequate.

Many homeowners upgrade to a 200-amp service for:
- Increased electrical capacity
- Room for future circuits
- Improved reliability
- Modern, code-compliant equipment

An upgraded service helps prepare your home for today's electrical demands while improving safety and reliability.

If you're planning electrical upgrades and aren't sure if your service is ready, Prolux Electrical Solutions can perform a professional load calculation and recommend the right solution.

⚡ 200 Amp Service Upgrade Completed ⚡

Another home is now safer, more reliable, and ready for today's electrical demands.

For this project, we upgraded the home to a new 200 amp electrical service, providing the homeowner with increased capacity for future additions such as EV chargers, hot tubs, generators, and other high-demand appliances.

During every service upgrade, I take the time to ensure:
- Proper grounding and bonding
- Neat, organized wiring
- Code-compliant installation
- A clean panel layout for easier future servicing

A properly installed electrical service isn't just about adding more power. It's about improving safety, reliability, and giving homeowners peace of mind knowing their electrical system is built to last.

If your lights dim, breakers trip often, or you're planning to add new electrical equipment, it may be time to consider a service upgrade.

Why Every Home Should Have an Electrical Safety Inspection

Most homeowners schedule maintenance for their heating and cooling system, roof, plumbing, and even their vehicles. However, one of the most important systems in the home is often overlooked: the electrical system.

Even if everything appears to be working properly, electrical components naturally age over time. Loose connections, worn breakers, aging receptacles, and outdated wiring can slowly develop into larger problems without showing obvious warning signs.

A professional electrical safety inspection can identify potential hazards before they become expensive repairs or serious safety concerns.

During an inspection, a licensed Master Electrician evaluates the overall condition of your home's electrical system, looking for issues that may not be visible to the average homeowner.

A comprehensive inspection typically includes:

- Electrical panel condition

- Breaker performance

- Grounding and bonding systems

- GFCI protection

- AFCI protection

- Smoke and carbon monoxide detector recommendations

- Loose electrical connections

- Signs of overheating

- Damaged wiring

- Overall NEC code compliance

Many electrical problems begin with small warning signs that homeowners often overlook, including:

- Flickering lights

- Frequently tripping breakers

- Warm outlets or switches

- Buzzing sounds

- Burning odors

- Intermittent power loss

- Extension cords being used as permanent wiring

Even if you haven't noticed any of these issues, an inspection can provide valuable peace of mind and help ensure your home's electrical system is operating safely and efficiently.

Electrical inspections are especially recommended if:

- Your home is more than 25 years old

- You're purchasing a home

- You're planning a renovation

- You've recently added high-demand appliances

- You've experienced storm or surge damage

- You have an older electrical panel

At Prolux Electrical Solutions Inc, we perform thorough electrical safety inspections throughout Chester County Pennsylvania. Call us today to schedule your professional electrical safety inspection.
