One of the misconceptions about careers in construction is that the work is back breaking. In reality, machines support much of the heavy lifting these days.

The crew setting granite curbing at our Sellers Avenue Bridge project is a prime example. The excavator handles the lift, and our crews carefully guide each section into place to ensure a perfect fit.

SR 115 in Monroe County is officially a safer road to travel for motorists. Road-Con has successfully completed all improvements, including road widening, a new left-turn lane, realignment of Merwinsburg Road, guide rails, soil nail wall construction, and more. Road-Con's own Christopher Hoffman captured these photos of the current situation at the historic Fetters Mill Bridge in Montgomery County. This portable dam system allows us to drill caissons for the foundation.

Fetters Mill Bridge is an 82-foot, single-span steel riveted through truss over Pennypack Creek connecting Lower Moreland Township to Bryn Athyn Borough. It was built in 1883 and rehabilitated in 1977. PennDOT closed the bridge indefinitely on April 27, 2017, due to its poor condition.

PennDOT ultimately approved a full rehabilitation to accommodate a single lane of traffic through the historical Fetter’s Mill Village. Road-Con continues to overcome many unique challenges related to the historic preservation of the bridge, the village, and nearby buildings, but when all is said and done, this incredible structure will be restored to greatness.

Our concrete crews have outdone themselves with the roundabout and island at the intersection of Castor & Wyoming Avenues in Northeast Philadelphia. This project will improve safety and accessibility for everyone, including drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and the handicapped.

Fixing the roads and bridges we all rely upon requires our crews to work close to traffic sometimes. It can be dangerous work if drivers are speeding or not paying attention.

This is National Work Zone Awareness Week, so we have a simple ask...

When you see roadwork ahead, slow it down, pay attention, and drive like your family is working there because there are kids, wives, and husbands waiting for these men and women to return home at the end of the shift.

If you've driven past the SR 202/SR 926 intersection recently, you might have seen a Road-Con paving crew at work. What you might not know is that an important part of this project is helping to preserve and respect the history of this location since the Westtown Inn (pictured) and Brandywine Battlefield are near the intersection.

Our scope includes matching the new retaining wall materials, textures, and colors to the Westtown Inn's architecture and preserve its timeless character using reclaimed stone. This was previously a concrete wall. What do you think of the new and improved look?
