The dog days of summer remind us to slow down and savor the season while it lasts.

Whether it's enjoying a quiet morning on the porch, opening the windows to welcome a warm breeze, or gathering with family and friends outdoors, the best homes are designed to embrace these simple moments. Thoughtful architecture creates spaces that invite us to linger, connect, and make the most of every remaining summer day.

Here's to soaking up the last stretch of summertime.

Few materials connect a home to its surroundings as naturally as stone.

Used for foundations, walls, terraces, chimneys, and landscape features, stone provides a sense of permanence and authenticity. Its texture, color, and variation help anchor a residence within the landscape while offering durability that can withstand generations of use.

When thoughtfully incorporated into a design, stone allows architecture to feel as though it has always belonged to its site.

Thoughtful design means every space has a purpose.

In this 1910 home, the former kitchen was reimagined as a hardworking support space designed for the way the family lives and entertains. A fully equipped scullery provides a dedicated area for food preparation, catering, and storage, while the spacious mudroom keeps daily life organized with room for sports gear, backpacks, packages, and even a dog shower. Behind the scenes, these functional spaces help the home's main kitchen remain the welcoming centerpiece for family and guests alike.

A kitchen can be much more than a place to cook. It can become the heart of the home.

By transforming a former covered brick patio into a light-filled solarium kitchen, this renovation created a space designed for everyday living. Surrounded by windows, doors, and skylights, the room is filled with natural light and thoughtfully planned to accommodate everything from quiet breakfasts and homework sessions to holiday gatherings. While the new addition becomes the home's central gathering place, its design carefully preserves the architectural rhythm and timeless character of the original residence.

Some of the most meaningful design decisions are the ones that preserve what already exists.

For this 1910 Main Line home, the renovation centered on honoring its original character by retaining architectural details that have stood the test of time. From the arched French doors that fill the home with natural light to the dining room's original millwork fireplace and the beautifully crafted staircase, each preserved element celebrates the home's history while contributing to its next chapter.

We are honored to share that the Laurel Hill Gatehouse Restoration project has been recognized with a 2026 Pennsylvania Historic Preservation Award for Construction Restoration by Preservation Pennsylvania.

Originally constructed in 1836, the Gatehouse stands as an important landmark whose restoration required thoughtful collaboration, exceptional craftsmanship, and a deep respect for its historic character. Through meticulous woodworking, masonry conservation, and the return of its monumental cast-iron entrance gates, this project helps ensure the Gatehouse will continue to welcome visitors for generations to come.

Congratulations to the entire project team, craftspeople, and partners whose dedication made this recognition possible. We are grateful to have contributed to the preservation of such a significant piece of Pennsylvania's architectural heritage.

Featured in the latest issue of Philadelphia Style Magazine, Main Line Manor reflects the beauty of thoughtful preservation paired with modern living.

Inside, every intervention was guided by a respect for the home's 1936 origins. A new family room, defined by custom millwork and a gracious fireplace, creates a warm gathering space filled with natural light. The expanded kitchen introduces a breakfast banquette and improved connection to the adjoining living spaces, making the home better suited to the rhythms of everyday life. Throughout, new finishes were carefully selected to feel authentic to the home's history while offering a fresh perspective for contemporary living.

The result is an interior that feels timeless, elegant, and seamlessly connected to the home's architectural legacy.

Perched above a sweeping lawn and surrounded by mature trees, Main Line Manor has been a defining presence in Gladwyne since 1936. We are honored to see this project featured in the latest issue of Philadelphia Style Magazine.

Designed originally by the Philadelphia firm of Irvine & Durham, the home's English Country architecture inspired every design decision throughout its restoration. Carefully scaled additions, restored dormers, and thoughtfully detailed new windows and French doors preserve the home's historic character while strengthening its relationship to the surrounding gardens and landscape. Every modification was designed to feel as though it had always belonged, respecting the original proportions, materials, and craftsmanship.

A home with deep roots, thoughtfully renewed for generations to come.
