Two things to know heading into the weekend: between the outage and another full day of rain, openings for new work before Labor Day are very limited, so email early if you need something done. This is the entrance to a bald faced hornet nest, up close. We took the photo so you never have to get this near one. These colonies hold hundreds of workers by August, every one can sting repeatedly, and they defend the nest in numbers. If you’ve spotted one on your property, leave it alone and call us. Our field supervisor Kurt found this at a customer's home this week. That's not seed in the bird feeder. It's a yellow jacket nest.

A queen can start a nest in spring in just about any sheltered spot, and by August it can hold hundreds of workers. This is the time of year when we get the most sting calls, because colonies are at full strength and getting defensive as their food supply runs out.

Please don't knock it down or hit it with a can of spray. Yellow jackets defend as a colony, and each one can sting over and over. We treat these in full gear for a reason.

If you spot a nest in a feeder, a soffit, a wall, or a hole in the lawn, give us a call before it gets bigger. Same day and next day service when available. 248 932 0018.

15,000 customers. 50 years. All of it built on trust.

This year marks our 50th in business, and we just passed our 15,000th customer across metro Detroit. None of it happens without the trust you place in us. Every visit starts with a family opening their door and letting us in to care for the place they call home, and we have never taken that lightly.

That big black ant on your counter? Don't wave it off. 🐜

It's almost certainly a carpenter ant — the largest ant you'll see indoors in Michigan, and the one that actually threatens your house. Carpenter ants don't eat wood like termites; they tunnel through it to nest. A colony inside usually means there's a moisture or leak problem feeding them.
