🌳 This massive removal in St. Louis had all the ingredients of a memorable day: one huge, dying tree, a crane, a skilled crew, and a surprise hidden inside the trunk.

This pin oak showed significant decline in the upper canopy due to rapidly advancing hypoxylon canker infection. Once work began, the extent of internal decay became even more evident. With nearby homes, landscaping, and extremely limited drop zones, a crane-assisted removal allowed us to safely and efficiently dismantle the tree piece by piece, keeping the surrounding structures protected.
The crew photo provides a clear sense of scale, highlighting just how substantial the trunk sections from this removal really were. Despite being mostly hollow due to internal rot, one section still weighed more than 7,000 pounds.
❗️The final image tells the rest of the story.
While the exterior still appeared strong, extensive internal decay became apparent as we got closer to the base, reinforcing the need for removal before the tree became an even greater risk.
Jobs like this are a huge team effort, and the successful outcome is a direct reflection of the experience, communication, and professionalism of everyone involved.
✅ If you have questions about the condition of a large tree on your property, an inspection can help identify potential concerns before they become much larger problems.
