There’s something honest about old utilitarian sheds like this.

I was walking a recent job site and came across several of these weathered outbuildings tucked into the trees. Simple forms. Single-slope roofs. Raw wood aging naturally into that soft silver-gray we all try to replicate in new construction.

Sometimes the best inspiration for modern design isn’t found in magazines — it’s sitting quietly on rural properties across North Central Washington.

Clean lines. Direct expression of materials. Function driving form.

There’s a lot to learn from buildings that were never trying to impress anyone.
