🌸🌿 We teamed up with River Drive Cooperage in Buxton to bring you these beautiful wh***ey barrel planters! We filled them with seasonal florals and greenery to create something special for the Bands Behind the Barns raffle.

All proceeds from the raffle benefit Hearts & Horses Maine 🐴💛

We’re proud to be part of a great local event and even happier to help support such a meaningful cause!

Come enjoy the music, check out the planters, and grab your raffle tickets! 🎶🌻

🌿 WHAT’S UP WITH MY HYDRANGEA?

Healthy leaves, but NO FLOWERS?!

This is a common question — especially here in Maine. 🌸

❄️ WINTER DAMAGE
Many bigleaf hydrangeas bloom on old wood. Cold temperatures can kill the flower buds while the plant itself remains healthy.
➡️ Solution: Protect vulnerable varieties over winter and choose reblooming/new-wood varieties when possible.

✂️ PRUNED AT THE WRONG TIME
Pruning old-wood hydrangeas in fall, winter or early spring can remove next season’s flower buds.
➡️ Solution: Know your variety before pruning.

☀️ TOO MUCH SHADE
Hydrangeas need light to produce flowers. Too much shade can mean lots of leaves and few blooms.
➡️ Solution: Aim for morning sun or several hours of filtered sunlight.

🌱 TOO MUCH FERTILIZER
High-nitrogen fertilizer encourages leafy growth instead of flowers. Even nearby lawn fertilizer can contribute.
➡️ Solution: Avoid over-fertilizing and use a fertilizer formulated for flowering plants if needed.

🌸 THE BOTTOM LINE:
A hydrangea can look completely healthy and still not bloom. Sometimes the plant survived — the flower buds didn’t!

🌿 Know your hydrangea + prune at the right time = more flowers!
