On Site Project Engineer
Texas Locations
We are currently seeking experienced Project Engineers to work closely with the internal and site Project Managers and Superintendents to ensure accuracy, productivity, cost control, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle. The Project Engineer will be embedded on the job site and actively engaged in daily operations, coordination, and field support. Organization within a fast-paced job site will be key to exceling in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination: Work directly with the Project Manager throughout the project lifecycle.
Plan & Specification Review: Analyze project plans and specifications for accuracy and compliance.
Production & Cost Tracking: Monitor daily production and associated costs; report variances.
Progress Monitoring: Track project progress, identify potential issues, and assist in developing solutions.
Change Management: Review plan changes, report to Project Manager, and assist in developing change orders. Maintain and update the change order log; submit monthly reports to the client.
Field Support: Assist the Superintendent with daily reports, including safety documentation with the onsite safety manager.
Submittals: Review and formally submit submittals to the client; maintain a submittal log and track material delivery dates.
RFIs: Prepare and process Requests for Information (RFIs); maintain an RFI log.
Documentation: Take meeting minutes and distribute if required.
Closeout: Help lead the project through punch list and closeout activities.
Scheduling: Support the Superintendent with project scheduling when necessary.
Client Relations: Maintain strong client relationships while representing Kolb Grading’s core values.
Required Skills
Minimum three years of on site experience at a heavy civil construction project serving as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent construction related experience preferred.
Positive attitude and ability to encourage a collaborative and respectful job site environment.Strong organizational and communication skills.

•Ability to develop and maintain client relationships while honoring company policies.
Software Knowledge encouraged but not required:
• HCSS Software
• Bluebeam
• AgTek
• Microsoft Project
• Microsoft Excel
• Vista (for reporting)
Physical Requirements
Walk and stand for extended periods.
Ability to measure trench lengths, quantities, and field conditions.
Comfortable working in active heavy civil construction environments while accurately assessing production constraints and job site conditions.
