🚨 Pearland Plumbing & Leak Repair Spotlight! 🚰💦

A neighbor in Pearland recently called us after noticing their sprinkler system had been running non-stop for three full days.

When we got on-site, we isolated the runaway sprinkler head and tracked down the irrigation backflow preventer. While the zone valve manifold was hidden, we gave the homeowner clear diagnostic options. Since they don’t actively use the irrigation system, they chose to keep it shut off for now—instantly stopping the leak!

While inspecting the backflow preventer, we found another active leak on the incoming main water service riser. The homeowner decided to address it right away!

Here’s how we solved it:
✅ Rebuilt the main water service riser using durable, corrosion-resistant PEX.
✅ Upgraded the main shutoff from an old multi-turn gate valve to a modern, reliable quarter-turn ball valve.

Why upgrade to a quarter-turn valve?
Older multi-turn valves require several rotations to close and often rust, leak around the stem, or stick when you need them most. A quarter-turn ball valve lets you turn off your main water line instantly with a simple 90-degree flip of the handle—giving you peace of mind during a plumbing emergency!

Whenever we head out to a service call—no matter what the original job was—we always make it a standard practice to perform a quick pressure check on the system. ✔️

It might seem like a small extra step, but hidden plumbing issues rarely announce themselves until they become a major emergency. By taking a few extra minutes to check the system's pressure and inspect the entry points, we can spot early warning signs—like a failing water service riser—long before it turns into a catastrophic pipe burst or a flooded foundation. 🌊

What We Saved Our Customer in La Porte

During our visit with this repeat customer in La Porte, that routine pressure check is what flagged the failing riser. By catching the issue early, we were able to save the homeowner from:

* **Severe Property Damage 🆘:** An unexpected riser rupture under house pressure can pump thousands of gallons of water into a home in minutes, ruining flooring, drywall, and belongings.

* **Costly Emergency Repairs 💲:** Replacing a riser proactively during normal working hours is straightforward; dealing with a middle-of-the-night emergency plumbing blowout is far more disruptive and expensive.

We are thrilled to see him developing into such a capable, trustworthy tradesman, and our customer was in great hands from start to finish.

So, today we reviewed fractions and then applied that review to reading and using measuring tape to cut material.
