I’m looking for someone who wants to learn the construction business from the ground up.
I’m looking to bring on a construction apprentice / field trainee with Altius Services.
I’ve spent a lot of years in this business, from being a journeyman carpenter to running commercial projects as a superintendent, and I’ve got a pretty ridiculous amount of knowledge that I’d like to pass along to somebody who actually wants to learn.
This wouldn’t just be a “show up and carry lumber” job. You’d get hands-on experience learning carpentry, framing, roofing, siding, estimating, reading plans, job planning, material selection, inspections, scheduling, customer communication, and eventually the business side of construction.
I’m particularly interested in someone who is dependable, mechanically inclined, takes pride in their work, and wants to build a career, not just collect a paycheck.
I’d also be interested in college students studying construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field who want real-world experience during the summer or school breaks.
This is a paid position, and the goal is to teach somebody enough that they can eventually become a skilled carpenter, lead, or even move into construction supervision.
Based in Webberville, with work throughout the Livingston/Ingham County area.
If you know somebody who might be a good fit, tag them or send them my way. I’m much more interested in finding the right person than finding somebody who already knows everything. After all, if they already knew everything, I’d have to find something else to teach them.
