We get questions regarding what does Gigi’s garden look like? Do we get w**ds? Tree saplings? Do bugs eat your plants?

Yes, we deal with the same thing everyone does in their own gardens. After working all week on client gardens, we still mow, trim, pull w**ds, spray for bag worms, fight tree saplings. It’s part of gardening.

Still at the end of the day, we enjoy our yard very much. It is our oasis. The dogs chase each other and bark at the grey heron on the pond. Birds sing and the bees are busy. It’s home.

Today’s project was a fun one! The garden landscape fabric had several layers of grass in it. Ronnie took out the old fabric and just like that the w**ds were all gone! That happens a lot with gardens that have been in place for a number of years. The w**d barrier fails after time and then it needs to be updated with fresh material. The trick to minimizing w**ds by the border is to make sure to lay the new fabric so it is all of the way under the block, which we did! We also removed a couple of bushes and added some new perennial plantings, landscape fabric and mulch.

The homeowner already had some nice raised beds that we planted herbs to fill those beds.

A raised bed by the garage has some nice pretty annuals for the homeowner, bees and butterflies to enjoy!! A bright and cheery garden.

Enjoy the before and after pictures. A good day of work brought big smiles to our client and her family.

What to do with a couple of huge stumps where you want a garden? Call us and we’ll work around them, literally! We used stacked stone to accent the garden border and to incorporate the stumps into this perennial garden. Annuals in pots were used on top and also in areas that had too many roots to dig to plant. We covered the garden in landscape fabric and then black mulch.

We then removed nandinas that were taking over the world and planted some pink Rose of Sharon’s along the side walk. Landscape fabric and mulch were added for a nice clean look.

A garden refresh - we changed out the old rock with some beautiful Colorado River Rock and used the homeowners existing wall block border.

We added a hydrangea tree and a variety of bushes and perennial flowers to provide color all season long! Just beautiful!!

30 year old railroad ties and tired mulch was replaced with wall block and fresh rock. Looks fabulous!

Yard clean up isn’t hard but it does take time and a little sweat. This project required trimming, w**ding, planting and new mulch. Wow, a refresh goes a long way! They are ready for summer!! Check out the before and after pics.
