Just a reminder, we are located near West Plains now. There has been an overwhelming amount of work coming in that we just simply cannot take on right now from our old location. It is within our service area, however with how things are, it is just not possible to take on those jobs right now. It breaks my heart to turn down work, but I must do what is right for me and the business at this time. I am so grateful that the phone and messages haven't went silent. That means a lot. Believe me, if there was a way I could take all the jobs in that area I would in a heartbeat. Right now I have to take some personal time and take care of personal things. And I have to concentrate on getting the business going here also. It is coming down to the end of another year and the end of another working season for us.

Another reminder, I do not do handyman, pressure washing, or home renovations.

Thank you all for being faithful and loyal clients. It means so much to us.

With diesel fuel prices below $5 a gallon, it cost around $15 to refill my equipment. Around $150 to fill the truck from empty to around a 1/4 of a tank left.

With fuel prices over $5 a gallon, it is costing double to fill a 5 gallon jug. From $15 to $30. The truck takes $180-200+ to refill.

This last job at 2 hours from home cost nearly $300 just to get to the job. Another $150 in equipment fuel, and $120 to top the truck back off (luckily fuel went down finally). That's $550+/- to get the job done. That doesn't cover the man hours, the breakdowns, the maintenance, etc.

So if you have questions as to why I would raise my prices, I'm not working for free. It's that simple. I'll help people the best I can to be able to afford my services. But if I don't make money, there's no point keeping the business going. I offer discounts, I offer different payment options. Down payments help but I don't like asking for them. And I rarely, if ever, ask for the whole thing down. Yes payment breakdowns can do damage but I've always been willing to take payments on the total invoice. Payments can also keep a business in business having a constant revenue coming in.

Many if you have been dumbfounded at my prices. And I have gotten by with them as they were. But when the economy goes to crap, I don't have a choice. I have to survive also. I understand the struggle and I understand some of you can barely afford what I charged you, but in the end I am running a business not a hobby. I have taxes to pay. Upgrades, repairs, regular maintenance, insurance on the equipment, insurance on the business. Utilities that I use for the business. A phone bill. An internet bill. Etc. All on top of these fuel prices.

I'm not making excuses. I'm not price gouging. And I am sure not greedy. Either I make ends meet or you have to find someone else. And good luck finding people with low as prices as I give and the quality I deliver. At the end of the day, I either make a paycheck or I don't leave the house. As simple as I can put it. I have children to support and bills to pay. Working to break even is not an option.

So the pain of running a business strikes again. This last job had it's moments. High fuel prices (job was over 2 hours from home), Losing a full can of fuel the first day, getting the truck and trailer stuck on a steep gravel hill, a dead battery not once but twice, and a flat tire. Oh and a free driveway repair from getting stuck and digging holes. Then there's the big disagreement with the alarm clock, don't get me started on that one lol.

It's not always fun and games. Sometimes it's just the games. What should have taken a day and a half took 3 days to equal a day and a half of work. With a day off before the 3rd day. Wasn't really a day off, just had other priorities. We are still in the process of moving, so the wife came up to help get some things ready to go. When you're 2 hours from home, you make time to see your family when the opportunity arises.

We have problems arise just like anyone else does. And we take care of those problems as quickly as possible. Running a business isn't easy all the time. But it is worth it in the end. Make your own hours, hands on on every job, every job is different and unique. The long hours, the sleepless nights. You either enjoy it or you don't. You take it one day at a time. And believe me, I have threatened to give it all up a time or two, that just goes with it. I enjoy what I do even if there are problems. It's a challenge and I'm a problem solver.

It is time to move on to the next chapter....

Thank you for the follows. Thank you for the business opportunities. Without you, my clients, there wouldn't be a business. There would be a hobby. And hobbies don't always pay the bills.
