🌳 **A Friendly Reminder About Tree Trimming During This Heat & Drought** 🌳

We want to give our customers — and anyone considering tree work right now — a friendly reminder: **it is still too hot and dry to be doing heavy trimming on most trees.**

With the current heat and lack of rainfall, our trees are already under significant stress from the drought. Heavy pruning right now can add even more stress and leave trees more vulnerable to damage. **In most cases, it is best to wait until the weather cools down before doing major trimming.**

🌿 **That doesn't mean all tree work has to wait!** Removals, like this tree our guys are taking down for a customer here in Waxahachie, can be safely performed during this time.

There are some situations where a **light trim or minor pruning** may be appropriate, but heavy trims should generally wait for cooler weather and better conditions.

⚠️ **If a tree service is telling you that your trees need a major trim right now, make sure they understand the current conditions and how drought and heat affect tree health.** Proper tree care isn't just about cutting branches — it's about knowing *when* and *how much* to prune to keep your trees healthy.

The only plumber we call.

We attended a memorial this morning, and a lifelong friend said they heard that I had retired from plumbing, definitely have not retired.

Actually, we recently purchased another van, have just hired and background checked a new licensed plumber that joined the DJM Plumbing team, and a second licensed and background checked plumber joining the DJM Plumbing team at the end of the month!

Do you suffer from low-limb syndrome???

Do you have limbs touching or very close to touching your roof? Limbs can rub a hole in your roof if given enough time and they provide additional access for pests to get on or in your house. PSA for Spring Tree Trimming Season 🌳

After every big storm (and right about now in spring), our local buy/sell groups light up with the same thing:

"I trimmed my own trees... now how much to haul this pile away?"

Folks, let me save you some money and frustration.

From the photos we see, most of these jobs would be considered small work for a reputable tree company. And here's the kicker: most tree services have a minimum charge that includes hauling everything off.

So you do the sweaty, dangerous part yourself... then end up paying roughly the same (or sometimes more) just to get the pile taken away.

Plus, the way a lot of people neatly stack those gnarly limbs actually makes it harder for the crew to load them efficiently. What looks tidy in your yard can turn into extra work in the trailer/chipper.

It seems like a good idea at the time ("I'll just knock this out myself and save a buck"), but it often doesn't work out that way.

Moral of the story: If you're staring at a pile of branches wondering who to call... next time, just let the professionals handle the whole thing from the start. Your back, your wallet, and your insurance policy will probably thank you.

Stay safe out there, y'all. Those "quick little trims" have a way of getting bigger than expected. 😅
