Been using the pocket hole jig for years now. Initially I got it for cabinets and more interior finish work. But recently I’ve added using it for exterior railings and cap rails.

For me cap rails are a really important area to get a nice smooth finish on since you’ll be touching them with your hands. Whether it’s on the stair railings or around the perimeter of a deck, cap rails are gonna be seen and touched.

And using the same fastener technique as with cabinets, where a perfectly flush and tight joint are crucial just makes sense. And that why using the pocket hole jig really shines.

Diablo SandNet sandpaper disc. Do you like them or prefer the old style sandpaper disc?

I feel they cut really good initially but loose their edge fast and deteriorate rapidly. They do extract the dust better, but I miss being able to keep a disc on longer than having to change batteries on the sander.

The Outer Banks is known for its wind. It’s why the Wright brothers came here to fly the first airplane. It’s why Hatteras Island is a world famous destination for kite surfing.

The wind can be a lot of fun for some activities, but it also wrecks havoc on the homes here. One of the biggest problems is with screen porches.

Keeping them looking good is a challenge, but fear not we are here to help you keep you home or rental house looking sharp and well kept.

We only use stainless hardware and the strongest fiberglass pool and patio screen available.
