A major milestone is now in place at San Francisco International Airport (SFO): Runway 1R has returned to service following an extensive rehabilitation that was delivered early and on budget.
The scale behind the milestone:
🕒 6 months, 24 hours a day
⚡ 64 miles of electrical cable
🚧 88 guidance signs replaced
🛫 97 acres paved
💡 2,440 new light fixtures installed
🔧 3,200 feet of pipe installed
🪨 200,000 tons of asphalt placed
Granite extends its sincere appreciation to the crews, supervisors, engineers, partners, suppliers, SFO team members, and all others whose skill and coordination moved this complex CM/GC airfield project.
The runway reopening ceremony brought together San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie, SFO Program Manager Daniel Lee, SFO Airport Director Mike Nakornkhet, and members of the Granite team, including Granite President and CEO Kyle Larkin, who spoke about the work behind this achievement.
To everyone who contributed, thank you for turning careful planning and demanding field ex*****on into infrastructure that will support SFO operations for years to come.
