I could pick many reasons why I love being a land surveyor, but this Is probably one of the coolest. I learned this about surveying shortly after getting my first job In the industry when I was 23 yrs old. My name goes down In the history books with every plat I draw and record at the courthouse.
A 19 year old future father of our country, our first president and a fixture on Mt. Rushmore was also a Land Surveyor. This is a plat of his from a survey he completed in Frederick County, Virginia, now part of West Virginia. George Washington came to western Virginia to survey the lands of Lord Fairfax.
