A concerned homeowner approached me with a persistent problem: freezing water pipes in his back addition every winter. He had resorted to plowing snow against the addition, believing the floor underneath and skirting walls lacked sufficient insulation. Further investigation validated his concerns. To provide a lasting solution, I first installed a heavy-duty moisture barrier on the ground in the crawl space, followed by insulation of the floor joists. Then, I framed the bottom of the addition, added insulation, and covered it with plywood. The final step involved installing vinyl siding on all three sides. This thorough approach guarantees the homeowner will not face freezing pipe issues in that room again. If you have similar problems, please contact me at 315-775-3017.
