Now that’s a house-hunting party! 🐝

When a honey bee colony gets too crowded, the old queen leaves with about half the hive to find a new home. They cluster together on branches like this to protect the queen while scout bees fly out searching for a cozy new spot (like a hollow tree or, unfortunately, your attic void).

If you see a swarm like this in your yard, don't panic. They're just resting and usually move on, or they can be safely relocated by a local beekeeper!

Found a hidden pantry in the framing! 🌾🐭

When mice or small pests get inside, they love stashing birdseed, pet food, or grain in dark corners like wall voids and joists. Finding a hoard like this is usually a dead giveaway that you've got unwanted roomies living behind the scenes.

Clear out the stash, seal the gaps, and keep 'em out.

When threatened or crushed, stink bugs release a pungent chemical defense mechanism from glands on their abdomen that actually attracts more stink bugs to the area.

Instead of squashing them, seal up gaps around siding and windows, or rely on professional exterior barrier treatments to keep them out.

This close-up of a hive frame shows honeycomb at two different stages:

Capped Honey (White Section): Bees fill hexagonal beeswax cells with honey, evaporate excess water, and seal each cell with a clean wax cap to store it for winter.

Open Cells (Bottom Section): Open hexagonal cells ready for nectar, pollen storage, or for the queen to lay eggs.

Honey bees are essential pollinators. When nests end up in wall voids or attic spaces, safe live relocation ensures these vital insects continue benefiting our environment without damaging your home's structure.

Notice heavy bee activity around gaps in wood siding, fascia, or structure cracks? Honey bees are crucial pollinators that build complex wax combs inside dark, sheltered cavities to protect their honey and brood.

Unlike aggressive wasps or yellowjackets, honey bees generally only sting when their nest is directly threatened. Because they are vital to our ecosystem, identifying them correctly is essential so they can be safely relocated by a professional beekeeper whenever possible rather than exterminated.

Proper identification protects your home and beneficial insects!

Wolf spiders are active hunters that rely on camouflage, speed, and keen eyesight rather than building webs to catch prey. Placed next to a standard pen tip for scale, this dark-colored spider is a common sight near ground level, basements, and entryways. While their size can be alarming, wolf spiders are non-aggressive toward humans and serve as natural pest control by eating insects.

Retaining walls, rock borders, and dense garden beds serve as primary shelter for crawling pests like ants, spiders, and ticks. Because these areas hold moisture and shade throughout the day, insects use them as natural staging grounds before attempting to migrate toward your home's foundation.

Targeting landscape transitions and soil borders helps break pest life cycles right at the source, preventing outdoor populations from spilling over into your living spaces.

Mice and rats are expert hitchhikers, looking for warmth, shelter, and easy access to food as seasons change. 🐭 Behind kitchen cabinets, under appliances, and near floor gaps are prime highways for rodents to travel unseen.

A true rodent control strategy goes beyond basic traps it requires identifying entry points, eliminating nesting spots, and sealing off gaps so they can't return.

Unprotected gable, dryer, and attic vents are like an open door for nuisance wildlife! Birds, squirrels, and bats love finding warm, cozy places to nest inside your home's exterior vents.

Installing durable, heavy-duty vent covers is one of the best ways to keep animals out before they cause costly damage to your home or ductwork. Exclusion work keeps nature where it belongs outdoors!
