At Stonwerk, two of our core values are Fun and Family. Each year, we bring the entire company together with three simple goals: show appreciation for an incredible team, strengthen relationships, and have fun.
This year, we partnered with PointBlank Gun Training in Pillager, MN to create a custom field day for our team. Employees rotated through handgun, AR-15, long-range precision shooting, and rappel tower training, guided by knowledgeable instructors who focused on both the skills and the reasoning behind them.
Beyond the activities themselves, what stood out most was the feedback from Pointblank’s owner, who commented on how unusually cohesive and positive our team was.
Investing in great people and creating opportunities to connect outside of work continues to be one of the best decisions we make.
Mission accomplished.

Let’s let the homeowner tell you a little about this homes masonry:

“It is not easy to find true artisan stone masons capable of replicating work from a century ago. Fortunately, thirty-four years ago, my neighbor Jon Monson recommended Stonwerk for our fireplace remodel. When I asked the company’s founder, Steve Homola, for his thoughts, he stepped out of his typically reserved demeanor. His eyes lit up as he described in detail how he would build a Rumford firebox—the elegant design first introduced in 1790, with its shallow firebox, angled sides, and tapered throat that deliver maximum heat projection, excellent draft, and superior efficiency.

At that moment, I realized Steve was not only deeply passionate about his craft but had also studied the origins of the finest fireplace designs from more than two centuries earlier. He went on to explain the art of mixing mortar and setting each stone with the rounded faces exposed, creating depth and a distinctive character that would perfectly complement our 100-year-old Cottagewood home. The finished project was flawless.

So, when my wife and I purchased our second “old” home in 1996, there was never any question—we called Stonwerk again. This time, in addition to the fireplace, they built a fieldstone wall and entrance pillars that have become signature features of the property.

The Stonwerk team are true craftsmen, and we continue to admire their exceptional work more than three decades later.”

We’ve been out in the western suburbs meeting students, talking about what it actually looks like to build something with your hands. Career day isn’t about handing out flyers. It’s about showing there’s another path. One where you can learn a trade, take pride in your work, and see what you built at the end of the day.

Our masonry training program at Stonwerk is built for that. No experience needed. Just people willing to show up, learn, and get better.

The world’s biggest trowel is always in attendance. Hard to miss, but it gets the point across. This trade is still here, and it’s not going anywhere.

There’s real opportunity in skilled trades, and there ALWAYS WILL BE. 💪🏽
