Raccoon Eviction: Best Method This Time of Year
This time of year, the best approach is usually humane eviction, especially when there is a possibility of a mother raccoon with babies in the attic, soffit, chimney, or under a deck.
✔️ Start with a thorough inspection
Locate all entry points.
Determine if babies are present.
Use cameras when possible to confirm activity.
✔️ One-way eviction doors
Allow raccoons to leave but prevent them from re-entering.
Most effective when installed on the primary entry point after confirming babies are not left behind.
✔️ Baby reunification when needed
If a mother has kits, remove the babies safely and place them in a warm reunion box near the entry point.
The mother will typically relocate them to an alternate den site.
✔️ Seal and repair
Once all raccoons are out, immediately seal entry points and repair damage.

This raccoon absolutely destroyed this trap trying to escape. Torn bedding everywhere, bent wiring, and total chaos — all because wildlife is unpredictable when stressed or improperly handled.
