A little Gristmill Builders history from Owner & Master Builder, Brendan O'Reilly:
As a child, I played along the banks of a creek in my hometown of Flourtown, Pennsylvania, in the ruins of the gristmills that were once the hub of the area's economy. The structures which even then represented to me what was grounded and real were forever etched in my memory. I came to Vermont in 1978 to attend Bur
ke Mountain Academy and train to be a ski racer. After graduating from UVM, where I skied and studied forest and wildlife biology, I traveled around North America, working as a naturalist along the coast of Maine, planting trees in northern Ontario, and building homes in Colorado, Alaska, and Hawaii. I also spent 18 months touring the globe. I returned to Vermont in 1991, I live in Stowe with my wife and our daughter. I enjoy biking, participating in marathons and triathlons, gardening, and, of course, skiing. I created Gristmill Builders in Stowe, Vermont, in 1992 with the image of those strong, durable structures of my childhood in mind. But more than that, I wanted to help people create special places that will affect not only their own lives but the lives of those around them. Experience Gristmill Builders.
