⚔ DID YOU KNOW? ⚔

Ever wonder why LED light bulbs stay so much cooler than old-school incandescent bulbs?

Incandescent bulbs turn most of the electricity they use into heat rather than visible light. LEDs are much more efficient at turning that electricity into light, which means less wasted energy and less heat. šŸ’”

That’s why an LED bulb can produce similar light while using a fraction of the electricity.

Small bulb. Big difference. ⚔

⚔ WEEKEND POWER CHECK ⚔

Generators are kind of like insurance - you hope you don’t need one BUT you’re really happy it’s there when the power goes out.

Lights on. Heat running. Fridge cold. Just vibes.

Because Alaska weather is gonna do what Alaska weather does!āš”šŸ

⚔ DID YOU KNOW? ⚔

Does your phone charger or appliance plug practically fall out of the outlet?

That’s more than just annoying! A worn-out outlet may not grip the plug tightly enough, creating a poor electrical connection that can generate heat or even cause arcing.

That heat can damage the outlet and plug, while electrical arcing can create enough heat to become a fire hazard. šŸ”„āš”

If your outlets aren’t holding plugs securely anymore, it might be time to replace them.

Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001 - a day that changed our way of life and our country forever.

Thousands of first responders, military members, and ordinary Americans stepped forward to help others. Lives were lost, families were changed forever, and countless people answered the call to serve in the days and years that followed.

Today, let’s be thankful for our families, our first responders, our military, and the people we hold close.

Yesterday can’t be forgotten.
Today is only temporary.
Tomorrow is never promised.

Never forget. šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø

Hope you’re enjoying your Labor Day! The weekly series goes on…

DID YOU KNOW? šŸ‘€

The first Labor Day celebration in the United States took place on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in NYC!

More than 10,000 workers marched from City Hall to Union Square in a massive parade celebrating workers’ rights. The day ended with a picnic, speeches, and fireworks. Twelve years later, President Grover Cleveland signed Labor Day into law as a national holiday on June 28, 1894, while the Pullman Railroad Strike was underway.

Now speaking of fireworks, don’t let an electrical problem turn your home into a fireworks show!

Have a great day off, and Happy Labor Day!

We spotted termination dust on the mountains this morning… UGH! šŸ”ļø

With colder weather comes space heater season.

A typical 1,500-watt space heater can draw around 12.5 amps which is a big chunk of what a standard 15-amp household circuit can handle. ALWAYS plug space heaters directly into a wall outlet.

Extension cords and power strips may not be designed for that continuous load and can overheat, creating a fire hazard.

Stay warm. Stay safe. Winter is coming! 😭🄶

Stay tuned for next week!

DID YOU KNOW? šŸ‘€āš”

Those outlets that have the ā€œTESTā€ and ā€œRESETā€ buttons in your bathroom, kitchen, garage, or outdoors have a purpose!

They are called GFCIs and are designed to shut off power when they detect electricity flowing where it shouldn’t, while also giving you protection in areas where water and electricity like to get a little too friendly. 😳

Should you test them? YES!

Press the TEST button and the power should shut off. Press the RESET button and the power should come back on.

If it doesn’t, give us a call!

Stay tuned for next week!

Today marks the start of our beloved State Fair! šŸŽ”

For some, this is a monstrosity of spending and walking. 😩

For others, it is a glorious and perfect excuse to nose dive into sweets and check out the lumberjacks, shopping, goats, pigs, horses, reptile exhibits, and all things Alaska.

Almost like Christmas spending in August right? šŸ˜‚

So what’s your favorite part of the Fair?! Comment below. šŸ‘‡

I’ll start: I love the petting zoo and the amphibians!
