For those of you that have been following F&P Forestry, you may not know that we also helped found Plow Pros the on-demand snow removal app that launched here in Alaska last winter.

Here's the latest update on what we've been working on during the PlowPros off-season.

What started as an idea to connect homeowners with reliable snow contractors has grown into something much bigger. This year we partnered with Operation ReBoot Outdoors and Wild Alaska Outfitters to send a deserving veteran on the grizzly hunt of a lifetime—all expenses paid.

This is just the beginning. We're continuing to develop new features for the app, expand into new markets, and work toward our goal of providing free snow removal to veterans across the country.

We're excited for what's ahead, and we can't wait to show you what's coming this winter.

Years ago, a few of our founders had an idea: What if we built an app for snow removal that worked like Uber for both homeowners and snow contractors?

As we built Plow Pros, we started to realize the potential wasn't just in making snow removal easier. We could use it to do something much bigger.

The question became, what if we could provide free snow removal for veterans across the country while making sure local contractors still got paid for doing the work?

Every dollar that's gone into building Plow Pros has come out of our own pockets. We've taken out HELOCs, cashed in retirement, and invested everything we could because we believe in what we're building.

Then we asked ourselves another question: How do we show people we're serious?

We're already involved with our local veteran community, providing firewood to veterans in need. But we wanted to do something bigger. So we partnered with Operation ReBoot OutDoors and Wild Alaska Outfitters to send one deserving veteran on an all-expenses-paid grizzly hunt in Alaska.

Today, that veteran harvested his grizzly. Congrats John Knight

This wasn't just about a hunt. It was about showing our commitment to the men and women who served our country.

Now we're working with three veteran organizations across the United States as we build something even bigger. Our mission isn't just free snow removal or firewood. It's creating long-term support for veterans who often leave the military with little more than a handshake and a "good luck."

Last year we got this project started, but Alaska had other plans. Winter showed up before we could finish, so we buttoned everything up and came back this season to pick up where we left off.

This lot had a lot going on. We excavated approximately 6 feet of unsuitable material where the building pad was going, installed geotextile fabric, and built the pad back up in controlled 1-foot lifts to create a solid foundation that will last.

We also had nearly **20 feet of hillside** that had to be cut back to establish the proper finish elevation for the building site. Rather than hauling off the stripped organics, we repurposed them on the 2:1 slopes to help stabilize the banks and promote future vegetation growth.

A lot of people only see the finished pad, but the real work is everything underneath it. A foundation is only as good as the ground it's built on. Taking the time to excavate unsuitable soils, install fabric, compact in lifts, and properly manage drainage is what sets a project up for success long before the concrete is ever poured.

From raw ground to a properly engineered building site—that's the kind of work we take pride in.

Three years later and we're getting close.

This project has been built in phases over the last three years, and we've been fortunate enough to handle every stage of it.

Phase 1: Land clearing and grubbing.

Phase 2: Waterline installation and septic system.

Phase 3: Raising the site elevation, preparing the mono slab, building the driveway, and backfilling around the foundation.

Phase 4: D1 cap, finish grading, tree and shrub plantings, and the first phase of the landscaping.

The final step will be completing the remaining landscaping once the fence is finished.

This project is a perfect example that you don't have to do everything at once. Building in phases allows you to spread the cost over time while making sure each phase is completed correctly and ready for the next.

Three years ago this was raw ground. Today it's well on its way to becoming a finished property, and we're proud to have been part of the entire process from day one.
