Hilltop House Custom Build

11 months under construction

The weird siding? That's rigid insulation to be clad with metal.

How much longer? 4-5 months 🤞

Lots left to do but it's coming together beautifully

This is why we matterport scan our big jobs right before cover. We needed to know if we can safely anchor something to the subfloor in this spot. In floor heat is safely out of the way, good to go 👍

Beautiful framing gets covered up. You may not see it once the house is finished, but you can sense when it's done well by the results.

It's always a process to painstakingly apply wood to structural steel, and the work on the cantilevered deck at the is no different. It's made infinitely easier when you have detailed drawings to work from. Thanks !!

We've built the subfloor and waterproof layer, next up is the floating deck and almost invisible glass railing.

When you build a team of top tier subs who work together seamlessly it makes the job run smoothly and eliminates mistakes. Here are the line voltage guys from going over the details with the low voltage designer Easton. There's been tons of cross discipline collabs on the which makes the end result better!

The crew did a stellar job installing the triple glazed 4-panel 20'x10' patio door at the project. Serious teamwork and precision on display - you wouldn't know it but there are three different subs working together. Tim from the framing crew operating the material handler, our siding and window crew Peter and Vlad, and Christopher and Luke from the Door Works who handle our big door installs. Great job guys!

Quick update from the project
Roof framing, good weather 😎

Update on my dad.

On November 21 he had a heart attack. Fortunately, my mom was able to get help quickly. He had a couple stents put in right away, but he still needed a triple bypass.

On January 13, he had the surgery and it went very well. He came home today to finish healing. He's looking and feeling good and happy to be back home.

Dad started his contracting business in 1991 and brought me in, green as could be, in 1993. We eventually partnered up and built a successful business together. He retired (sort of) in 2014 as I started Kashas Design Build. However, retirement wasn't for him, and I had a need for a Project Manager so he came back to help me out "temporarily". He's been working ever since. Even after the heart attack (after the doc cleared him) be continued working up until the surgery.

He's hinting that he might really retire now and take up some hobbies he's been neglecting, but who knows. He might be feeling like a 40 year old once he recovers 😉.

He's touched a lot of people over the years in this business - clients, subs, suppliers, employees, and more. The outpouring of well wishes has meant so much to him. Thank you to everyone for your prayers and kind words. Don't be surprised if you see him back out on the job site again someday!

Gratefully,
Brian
