𝐀𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐮𝐛𝐨𝐢𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲, 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐚. 𝐖𝐞 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫.

𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 + 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀
- The brick adds protection and sound-dampening benefits while
the vertical siding gives a beautiful contrast.
- Wood elements add warmth.
- The roof combines asphalt shingles with metal roofing on the
lower pitched porch roof.

𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 + 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿
- The front offsets give the house character.
- Mark likes the lower-pitched roof kick-out over the garage doors.
It breaks up that long boring side roof while protecting the
garage door openings from weather.

𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀
Originally, we drew dormers over the garage in this plan.

Dormers add character to a home’s exterior, and sometimes they’re needed for egress purposes. On the flip side, they often do not add much more light to a space, and they can add quite a bit of expense.

The homeowners made a good call and avoided the extra expense and fluff.

𝑇ℎ𝑒 ℎ𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑦 𝑏𝑒ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑑 𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑛𝑎𝑚𝑒.

Over the past thirty-five years we’ve lived in three different states, and six small towns. At each stopping point we’ve learned to know many dear and quality folk that continue to bless us.

When we lived in Northeastern Missouri our town’s population was around four hundred. We loved the rolling pastureland, the ranchers, and the easygoing prairie culture. Our corner of town was dubbed “Elm Town”, harking back to the late 1800’s before the Dutch elm disease had taken its toll on the elms in North America.

That’s where the seeds of what grew to be “Elm Town Design LLC” were planted, and we’re proud to invoke a bygone era—not so much the trees that came and went, but a steady neighborliness and the old-school values that build strong communities.

Elm Town Design LLC is a home design service located in Washington, Indiana.

We are first of all committed to serving Jesus and living life out of the love and holiness that characterized Him (I admit to failing miserably and often).

Secondarily, we are committed to be a loving husband and father. And third (or maybe sixth or seventh) committed to designing homes that are not only beautiful, but also extremely functional.
