The ABC Local Craft Competition gave our Magnolia team a chance to shine, and yes, we brought home a win! 🏆🎉

We couldn’t be prouder of Gabrielle, Luis, and Jermy for stepping up, putting their skills to the test, and representing Magnolia! These students are investing in their education and working hard to grow in their craft. Seeing that dedication in action gave us plenty to cheer about!

Balancing work and school takes commitment, and they’re absolutely crushing it. We’re proud to celebrate the effort behind their accomplishments and see them get the recognition they deserve. Join us in giving all three a big congratulations! 👏

Fully charged? Time to unplug.
It is easy to leave a phone, laptop, tablet, or other rechargeable device connected long after the battery reaches 100 percent. However, leaving it plugged in longer than needed can create additional heat and place extra stress on its lithium-ion battery.
Try to charge devices while you are awake and nearby. Once charging is complete, unplug the device instead of leaving it connected overnight or while no one is home. This also gives you the chance to notice if the charger or device becomes unusually warm.
Before Fire Prevention Week comes to an end, take a look at your everyday charging habits. One small change, like unplugging when the battery is full, can become an easy part of your regular routine.

Your rechargeable devices can give you warning signs when something is wrong. Knowing what to look for can help you act before the problem becomes more serious.
Stop using a device right away if its battery feels unusually warm, smells strange, makes popping or hissing noises, changes shape or color, begins to swell, leaks, or produces smoke. These can all be signs that the lithium-ion battery is damaged or failing.
If it is safe to do so, unplug the device and move it away from anything that can catch fire. Do not continue using or charging it to see if the problem goes away. If the device begins smoking or catches fire, move away from the area and call 911.
Phones, laptops, toys, and other devices can be replaced. Your safety cannot. Pay attention when a battery tells you something is not right.

Today's Fire Prevention Week tip is all about where you charge your devices.
Charging your phone next to you on the couch or leaving a tablet plugged in on the bed may seem harmless, but soft surfaces are not safe places to charge rechargeable devices.
Phones, laptops, tablets, gaming devices, and their chargers produce heat while charging. Beds, couches, pillows, blankets, and other soft surfaces can trap that heat and block airflow around the device. That can cause the battery to overheat and increase the risk of fire.
Instead, place your device on a hard, flat surface such as a table, desk, counter, or floor while it charges. Keep it uncovered and give it plenty of room for air to circulate.
It only takes a few seconds to choose a safer charging spot. Small action. Big impact.

It's Fire Prevention Week! This year's theme is "Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower."
All week long, we'll be sharing simple actions you can take to help prevent fires involving lithium-ion batteries. Follow our page and turn on your notifications so you don't miss a tip!
Our first tip is to take a closer look at your chargers. A frayed cord, loose connection, cracked casing, or cheaply made replacement charger is not worth the risk. Even if a charger fits your device, it may not provide the correct amount of power or include the necessary safety protections.
Stop using chargers that are broken, damaged, or unusually warm. When buying a replacement, use one approved by the device's manufacturer instead of choosing an inexpensive charger from an unknown source.
A safer charger helps protect the battery, the device, and your home. Small action. Big impact.
