We’re building for a cause!

GCS-SIGAL is teaming up with CGS Architects for CANstruction, a creative design-build competition that challenges teams to construct structures entirely from canned food. This year, we’re building the iconic Chrysler Building!

After the competition, all donated food goes to the Capital Area Food Bank to help fight hunger in our community.

Project Spotlight: Raymond James DC

GCS-SIGAL recently completed the renovation of Raymond James’ 11,390 SF Washington, DC office, creating a modern workplace with private offices, conference and huddle rooms, lounge spaces, a café, client waiting areas, and support spaces designed to enhance both the employee and client experience.

Located in the heart of downtown DC, the completed project delivers a modern and welcoming environment that supports collaboration, productivity, and client engagement.

We were honored to join Mayor Muriel Bowser, Ambassador Attallah Shabazz, Malcolm X's eldest daughter, as well as CGS Architects, the DC Department of General Services, and the community members whose advocacy helped revive and transform the school, for the ribbon cutting at Malcolm X Elementary in DC's Ward 8.

This modernization and addition was guided by a clear goal: thoughtful design, sustainable building systems, and a dedicated art program that come together to support learning, creativity, and growth

Project Spotlight: A new workplace for FM Global in Reston.

GCS-SIGAL completed a 30,000 SF interior fit out for FM Global’s new Reston office, transforming the building’s only unoccupied floor into a thoughtfully designed, flexible workplace.

FM Global is one of the world’s leading commercial property insurers, helping organizations prevent losses through engineering, research, and risk management expertise.

The completed space includes conference rooms, collaboration areas, private offices, huddle rooms, a café and full-service kitchen, meditation room, wellness suite, reception area, and a 64-seat training room with an operable partition. An outdoor terrace adds another space for employees to gather, work, and connect.

From everyday workspaces to training, wellness, and collaboration, the renovated floor gives FM Global a workplace designed to support its team and the way they work today.

A new chapter begins at Barnard Elementary School!

We joined Mayor Muriel Bowser, DC Public Schools, the DC Department of General Services, AMDC, and the Barnard community to celebrate the completion of the school’s new 23,000-square-foot addition.

The addition brings 12 new general education classrooms, a hands-on Specials Lab, dedicated special education spaces, a green roof, and more, creating modern, inclusive spaces designed to support students and educators for years to come.

Each year, the GCS-SIGAL team comes together for a day of project site tours, visiting active jobsites across the DMV to learn more about the diverse projects we're building and the impact they're having on our communities.

This year's tour featured several of our Department of General Services (DGS) projects, including Congress Heights Recreation Center, Malcolm X Elementary School, Crummell Community Center, and the Southeast Tennis & Learning Center Expansion.

The annual tour is one of our favorite traditions. It's an opportunity to celebrate project progress, connect with colleagues from across the company, and give our interns a broader perspective on the variety of work we do.
