Founded in 1972 as a small masonry and concrete contractor, our company has grown to over 900 craftsman supported by an administrative staff, including project managers, professional engineers, estimators, and a fully staffed safety department. Fort Myer typically self-performs critical work items including earthwork, excavation, concrete & asphalt paving, site development, foundations and structures. By self-performing much of this work, we provide clients with cost and scheduling savings. Owning and operating multiple asphalt plants, Fort Myer offers customers various federal and state approved mixes. Our plants service the Maryland, Virginia, and DC area with several hundred thousand tons of asphalt material annually. Our plant located at 5th and V Street, NE employs the most cutting edge “green” technology to ensure this facility is the cleanest and the most environmentally friendly possible.

Critical progress is being made on the I-395 HOV Rehabilitation project for District Department of Transportation.

The I-395 HOV Rochambeau Bridge is the central highway bridge and the second northernmost bridge of the entire 14th Street Bridge complex and is located less than 100 feet downstream from the nearby George Mason Memorial Bridge, which is identical in design.

The I-395 HOV Rochambeau Bridge carries four high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes of I-395, two in each direction. The bridge is 90 feet wide and 2,483 feet long with a vertical clearance of 29 feet above the Potomac River.

The project will improve the safety, reliability, and longevity of the bridge.

We are excited to announce the promotion of Paulo "Jorge" Baptista from General Manager to Associate Vice President of the Utilities Division.

Jorge joined Fort Myer Construction in 2004 and has been a leader in our Utilities Division ever since. From valve replacements to mega-projects, he has gone above and beyond to deliver the highest level of craftsmanship in our work.

Jorge's work ethic sets the standard for those around him. He is known for his hands-on, intensive approach to managing projects, staying closely involved from start to finish and making sure every detail is right. Just as important, he has built strong, lasting relationships with our subcontractors and clients, earning their trust through reliability, clear communication, and consistent results.

With Jorge in this new role, we are confident there is no project our Utilities Division cannot take on and deliver successfully.

Fort Myer Construction Corporation was named the apparent low bidder on DDOT's Benning Road Bridges and Transportation Improvements Project, a three-year job valued at approximately $178 million.

The project centers on replacing the Willie J. Hardy Bridge, which carries Benning Road NE over DC-295 (Anacostia Freeway) and the CSX freight rail tracks. It also covers safety and access improvements at the Benning Road NE/DC-295 interchange, plus new pedestrian and bicycle facilities. The work will improve safety, traffic flow, and infrastructure for residents of Wards 5 and 7.

Our crews are hard at work on the Old Courthouse Road Realignment Project for Fairfax County.

The proposed improvements will realign Old Courthouse Road and raise the roadway to help improve safety and minimize roadway flooding. The project includes roadway reconstruction, new pedestrian and bicycle connections, and replacing the substandard culvert with a new structure.
