The International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Foundation (IWSH) is the charitable arm of . Plumbing is vital to global health!

IWSH exists to help develop and enhance the role of the plumbing industry in community collaborations and educational exchanges, all over the world. Since our creation in 2016, IWSH has assembled teams of the best and brightest skilled volunteers from across the globe, joining forces to tackle design and construction projects that improve access to water, sanitation and hygiene for a variety of co

mmunities in need. We connect with local leaders, governmental and nonprofit partners, labor organizations, and manufacturers. We do this because we believe that clean water and sanitation are fundamental human rights: they directly impact life, prosperity, and opportunity. Today, IWSH oversees and supports a range of water, sanitation and hygiene initiatives via our international Community Plumbing Challenge program, and ongoing Plumbing Outreach projects.

Global challenges require global collaboration.

During the 2026 InstallerSHOW UK, participants from 16 countries joined forces and got hands-on with assessment processes and quality standards required for the upcoming WorldSkills International Plumbing and Heating competition in Shanghai this September. By learning together, these young competitors in-training are actively pursuing a shared standard of excellence that will elevate the entire plumbing industry for years to come.

At the 2026 InstallerSHOW UK, Skills Forum participants were immersed in the latest advancements in global plumbing technology. With more than 900 exhibitors, the event provided young WorldSkills UK competitors-in-training direct access to industry-leading tools and innovations. Demonstrations by World Plumbing Council partners including GROHE ensure that the next generation is trained on the highest quality systems, directly advancing public health and resource conservation.

In training for the upcoming Plumbing & Heating competition, WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, these champions are elevating the trade and inspiring the next generation of industry leaders.

In 2026, IWSH marks its 10th anniversary alongside IAPMO’s 100th year — fittingly, in the city of Los Angeles, where IAPMO was founded.

This Community Plumbing Challenge reflects a decade of IWSH mobilizing the plumbing industry for good and a century of IAPMO expertise shaping a safer built environment.

The Los Angeles Mission project brings that model home to Southern California next month.

When plumbing fails: meal service stops, showers go offline, and vulnerable people suffer.

By combining industry expertise with quality products, IWSH will help the Los Angeles Mission homeless shelter reduce operational costs, improve health and sanitation services, and provide individuals with a safer and healthier environment.

The inaugural IPA Bathroom Challenge at PlumbexIndia demonstrated the importance of skilled, code-compliant plumbers working to close the sanitation gap.

In collaboration with the Indian Plumbing Association, IWSH and IAPMO provided technical support for a live, skills-based installation competition designed to elevate trade proficiency and make quality workmanship visible to industry leaders. By testing accuracy and adherence to national plumbing standards, this partnership establishes a dynamic platform for forward-thinking solutions in water infrastructure.

We are set up at the SkillsCanada National Competition alongside the United Association Canada booth, where attendees can participate in a try-a-trade!

Supported by IAPMO as a global industry partner, we are here to raise awareness for improved access in vulnerable communities and connect with the dedicated future plumbers who will step up to meet this global need.

This International Women’s Day, we celebrate women around the globe who use their voices and skills to build healthier, stronger communities. While we honor the achievements of all women today, we want to specially recognize the dedicated women of the trades who use their essential skills to empower communities and protect public health.

We are incredibly proud to spotlight several of the phenomenal tradeswomen leading this charge and driving our industry forward. Thank you to Patricia Contreras (Local 78) and Aster Tseng (Local 393) for their advocacy and leadership on the Young Professionals Committee. We honor Rebecca Greiff and Sharolyn Robison (UA Local 290) for their hands-on, collaborative work bringing safe water access to families during the IWSH Navajo project, alongside the continued dedication of Vikki Schlonies (UA Local 527) in Kitchener, Ontario for the IWSH Walpole Island project.

We're proud to share our 2025 Impact Report!

This year, IWSH impacted 5,000+ individuals with vital plumbing interventions across 7 communities in 5 countries. From the Navajo Nation to Zambia, from Canada to Australia, we mobilized the plumbing industry to provide clean drinking water, safe sanitation, and new career pathways to underserved communities.

Each initiative reflected our shared belief that plumbing changes lives—and that when we work together, those changes last.
