You asked for it, Mother Nature delivered. The summer heat came in blazin. With these temps in the 100s, your air conditioner is working on overdrive so here are some simple tips to follow:

🌡️ Set your thermostat to a comfortable temperature and avoid constantly adjusting it. Your A/C cools at the same speed no matter how low you set it.

🪟 Keep blinds and curtains closed during the hottest part of the day to block out the sun's heat.

🚪 Keep doors and windows closed so your cool air stays where it belongs.

🌀 Run ceiling fans to help circulate cool air. Remember: fans cool people, not rooms, so turn them off when you leave.

🧹 Replace or clean your air filter if it's dirty. A clean filter helps your system breathe easier and run more efficiently.

🔥 If you want an excuse not to cook - avoid using the oven during the afternoon if you can. Your A/C doesn't need another heat source to fight!

A few quick tips to keep your system from freezing up during this rapid heat wave:

✅ Change your air filter — dirty filters choke airflow fast
✅ Don’t crank the thermostat way down instantly — your AC isn’t a drag racer
✅ Make sure vents are open and unobstructed
✅ Keep the outdoor unit clear of grass, weeds, and cottonwood fluff
✅ If you see ice on the lines or unit, TURN IT OFF and let it thaw before running it again

Your AC has been basically sitting on the couch all spring. Give it a minute to warm up before asking it to survive North Dakota’s annual weather identity crisis. 😅
