200A Service Upgrade getting started

08/03/2026

With all this heavy rain today, it’s a good time to take a quick look at your electrical panel.

Do not open the panel cover.

Just look from the outside for warning signs:

Water dripping from the panel
Water coming out around breakers
Rust or staining
Moisture at the bottom of the electrical box
Water marks around the meter or panel area

Water and electrical panels do not mix. Once water gets inside, breakers, bus bars, connections, and the panel itself can be damaged, sometimes before you even notice a problem.

I recently replaced a panel that was less than 6 months old because water was getting in and ruining it. New does not always mean done right.

I offer electrical panel inspections to check for water entry, rust, damaged breakers, loose connections, improper wiring, grounding/bonding issues, and other safety concerns.

After storms like this, it’s worth taking a look.

Stay safe. Don’t open the panel. If something looks off, have it checked. ⚡RI & MA

Automatic standby systems and manual generator interlock setups both have their place — it just depends on the home, the budget, and what you want powered during an outage.

Some homeowners want the full automatic setup that kicks on by itself.

Others just want a safe, clean manual setup so they can plug in a portable generator and keep the essentials running.

Either way, the important part is planning it correctly.
Load calculations, transfer equipment, panel setup, wiring, grounding, clearances, and installation all matter.

Backup power isn’t something you want thrown together after the lights go out.

Planned right.
Installed clean.
Ready when needed. ⚡

Pool wiring is not where you want shortcuts.

It’s not just about getting power to the pump.

Proper bonding, GFCI protection, equipment wiring, and safe installation all matter when water and electricity are involved.

I handle the electrical side for above-ground and in-ground pools ....done safely, cleanly, and right the first time.

Its getting hot as summer approaches. Make sure your window ac unit is plugged directly into the wall and not into a splitter or extension cord!
If you smell anything burning or fishy smell, turn it off and call your electrician.
