On the tail end of this job. More exposed rafter work which is a treat because you can actually appreciate the work put into a roof. This will be covered as well with 5/4 fir t&g and a layer of . Two more roof areas then onto the next one.
Only one year old l know who rocks the 40’
Time for a lot of block and some decorative rafter rails. I’ll follow up on the previous post there will be a spiral staircase to access the upper rooftop deck.
Happy 1st birthday to this little man. and I are grateful to be able to raise you by our side. Keep smiling everyday.
Who said you can’t fit a circle in a square. Shooting get this thing capped next week so we can drop back down and get into about 250 4”x7” exposed doug fir rafters. This project definitely has a little bit of everything.
Here’s an Inlaw addition the guys have been cranking on. It’s got some contemporary features to match the existing home. With a real funky connector to the house. There’s a really nice gable window wall to take advantage of some nice views.
For rafter tails and soffit went in this week. Waiting on the remaining pieces for the dormers to get this section fully water tight. Check out the hip free corners. At the long point we span 37”. Some cool details that are being replicated to match the existing house.
Stop by a project and Mike built over the winter. I couldn’t be happier with their ex*****on on everything from re-designing the second floor to allow for more space to incorporating different details into the siding that were thought of in the design process. As a business owner this goes to show you you are only as strong as the guys that are behind you.
Back at our Jamestown addition. Funky little stairwell with landing. Two ply flinch beams mended in the field to create a semi floating landing to accommodate two built in bookcases.
Small ranch we raised this winter. The site definitely made it a challenge to work. Just need to get back and side.
Finally got rolling on a good size addition that we were supposed to start rolling last November on. Original house was lifted and moved for new foundation. We are adding 6400 sq. Ft to the structure along with 2,600 ft of covered porch. Lots of cool details to come on this one.
Wishing my best friend a happy birthday. Thank you for everything you do day in and day out. Have a wonderful day I love you
Structural repairs on a 150+ year building can sure have its challenges. We were brought in for demo only and now where into a pretty extensive repair. This has alittle bit of everything from rotted sills/ improper post points/ no footings/ 0 load transfers. With two story’s overhead and spans up to 24’ post to post has been a challenge to correct and temp support. Waiting on footing inspections then on to steel.
Back at a house we framed last year for to throw up a full length deck to take advantage of the views. It will be wrapped in a stone veneer that the mason is crushing on the house. Definitely one of the more stout houses I’ve built with the amount of glulams and hardware.
Little lean to we put together beginning of the month.
Got the decorative Doug fir rafters tails in today with some of the crown and soffit. Pretty serious connection for this little roof with 8-3” sds screws 1- 8” through the top. Boundary blocking with clip that has 6 more sds screws along with an H-10 . Safe to say she’s not going anywhere.
Cut and stacked this little guy today. 45 minutes from the first ridges going in to the first sheet of plywood hitting the deck. Waiting on decorative tails and trim to get this guy watertight. We shall see how good our scupper works with the rain tomorrow.
Finally got steel set. Now to get this guy watertight. Lower deck area has dual pitches to allow for a center scupper to drain into the roof.
Prefab game.
Wrapped up this pool cabana a month ago for a friend. Hybrid Cedar exterior, rustic pine interior.
Just about wrapped up with this guy. killed with the Custom Mahogany Cedar shower attached to the small addition deck job we’ve been working on. Painters are wrapping up there and hopefully will be on to phase 2 soon for the backyard transformation.
Some more interior photos.
Some photos of the interior we are finishing up on our Charlestown project. Waiting on a few back ordered items and this guy should be wrapped up. The guys did an awesome job bringing the homeowners vision to life.
The journey of life brings many things. Some up some down some good some bad. I was blessed to have been raised by a wonderful grandmother who was the backbone to our family. She passed away this week. I wish she could have met her newest great grand child but I know she had other plans to watch over all of them from above. One day later August Hayes came into the world. We will always love you and Thankyou for watching over my son.
Back at our first large scale start to finish to knock out a 2000 sq ft finished basement. This ones going to be pretty cool.
Moving along on filling everything in. Few more valleys and some decorative roofs and we should be ready for plywood. Some funky details where we had ridges coming into close contact with CCQ hangers do we had to back out with solid LVL and dome ledger locks.
Kitchen project the guys are wrapping up. This was a complete gut with a couple wall removals. Waiting on a couple back ordered items to button this one up.
Moving along on this house for Hopefully get the roof filled in next week before pots out our kid. This has been a fun one with new challenges to overcome.
Ready for sheets and gables. The CCQ connections on this one made alittle bit more work rolling joists. We opted to pad out beams on effected areas with rim board on the nut side and 3/4” ply on the bolt side. Installed an lvl with 6” ledger locks over everything and it gave us a clean surface to install the joist to. There was no call out on how to handle this situation and we ran into it in 16 different areas. This seemed to be the most effective clean way to achieve it.
Moving along hoping to get the joists wrapped up before the holiday then on two some gable fun#framersareadyingbreed
One more day of some beam work and exterior walls and we should be ready to start filling in with the joists. Multiple point loads that I carrying three stories up into the roof took a little bit longer to get all laid out but hopefully smooth sailing from here.
Got going on this custom this week. Trying to get all HDU’s knocked out first rather that last. This one sure isn’t going anywhere.
Got rolling on this addition and deck. These are the beginning of a pretty cool backyard transformation. It will be accompanied by outdoor kitchen, patio, pergola and outdoor shower.
🧐
Couple additions and modifications to a house in little Compton we framed for a fellow contractor. Definitely had some challenges to overcome along the way but happy with the end results
Finished this guy off this week. Held up on metal roofing.
Quick little salt barn for a good friend. Beats dragging the tarp off.
Third attempt on installing this custom exterior door which was brought to us damaged twice and set us back a couple of months unwrapping this area up. Handling doors and windows that cost more than most people’s cars can get stressful at times. This is definitely one of those instances you throw speed out the window and make sure all steps are followed to ensure quality and longevity. This guy is outfitted with a pan, OSI sealant sill and casing followed by tape rolled on to the trim and hand stretched lead cap. She’s a beut.
Waiting on some decorative metal to finish this guy off. Glad we pulled the old siding off and did a complete overhaul. Almost all penetrations had no flashing detail whatsoever if it even had paper on it. You can see the effect it has on the substrate at the wrapping points.😡 got to love platt houses.
have been knocking out the exterior in Richmond. Pre stained cedar claps installed on a basic rain screen of two layers of 30# felt. Simple and effective. One important step to longevity is the 3/4” gap along all roof lines and 1/2” above all other surfaces. Extra steps for quality product that will hopefully hold up years to come.
Some prefab decorative roofs the homeowner requested. Fun little guys to knock out. We are ready for the standing seam
Sunday project for a good friend installing a hot box around a valve station on a site he’s trying to wrap up. Three hours from start to finish.
Got her ready for the next phase with the exception of some interior partitions and short fascia stock on one dog house. Windows on Tuesday and some punch list items then back over to Charlestown to start exterior finish. Last couple photos show a detail on how we dato out our fascia to accept soffit for a nice clean reveal.
Moo icing along. Hopefully ready for subs by end of next week and on to trim and siding.
