Manager Monday Spotlight: John D***s

This week we're excited to introduce John D***s, our Plant Services Manager.

For approximately 23 years, John has been an important part of the Birmingham & Associates team. As our Plant Services Manager, John oversees industrial maintenance and plant service operations, working closely with customers to coordinate shutdowns, maintenance projects, emergency service calls, and ongoing facility support. He helps ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards while building strong, long-term relationships with our clients. His experience, leadership, and commitment to excellence have made him a trusted resource for both our team and our customers.

Originally from Trussville, Alabama, John worked while attending college, gaining valuable hands-on experience that helped shape his career in the construction industry. Outside of work, John enjoys riding motorcycles, playing billiards, hunting, and fishing. He has been married to his wife, Brandie Franklin D***s, and values the time they spend together with family and those closest to them.

When asked which Birmingham & Associates core value means the most to him, John said all of them because they work together to define who we are as a company.

He shared:

Manager Monday Spotlight: Terry Ryan

This week we're excited to introduce Terry Ryan, one of our Estimators and Project Managers at Birmingham & Associates.

For the past 8 years, Terry has been an important part of our team, helping customers bring projects from concept to completion. As an Estimator and Project Manager, he works closely with clients, prepares accurate project estimates, manages schedules and budgets, and helps ensure every project is completed safely, on time, and with the quality our customers have come to expect. His experience, attention to detail, and commitment to serving our clients have made him a valuable asset to Birmingham & Associates.

Originally from Poughkeepsie, New York, Terry attended Jefferson State Community College, where he studied Architectural and Civil Design and Construction Management. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time on the golf course, following just about any sport, and making memories with his wife, Sheri, and their children, Anna and Patrick.

When asked which Birmingham & Associates core value means the most to him, Terry chose Integrity and Quality. He shared that consistently doing the right thing and delivering quality work is what keeps clients coming back time and time again. That mindset has helped him build lasting relationships and reflects the standard of excellence we strive for every day.

Manager Monday Spotlight: Fletcher Parker

This week, we're proud to introduce Fletcher Parker, our General Superintendent at Birmingham & Associates.

Since joining our team on January 2, 2020, Fletcher has been a driving force behind our field operations. As General Superintendent, he provides leadership and oversight for all field operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. He manages our foremen and crews while coordinating closely with project managers, customers, and subcontractors. Fletcher is responsible for manpower planning, scheduling, productivity, quality control, safety compliance, and developing the next generation of field leaders.

Originally from Clanton, Alabama, Fletcher went straight into the workforce, where he built the knowledge and experience that have made him an outstanding leader in the construction industry. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, camping, and riding his bike. He loves spending time with his children, grandchildren, and wife, that he has been married to since February 23, 1980.

When asked which Birmingham & Associates core value means the most to him, Fletcher's answer was simple: all of them. He believes Safety is essential so everyone can return home safely to their families each day. Integrity means being able to feel good about the work you've completed at the end of the day. Quality means taking pride in what you've built and leaving behind work that reflects excellence. Those principles are evident in the way Fletcher leads our field teams every day.

We are incredibly grateful for Fletcher and everything he brings to Birmingham & Associates. His leadership, experience, strong work ethic, and commitment to our people have made a lasting impact on our company. Last Friday, Birmingham & Associates was honored to sponsor the Beach Bonfire during the SubAla & WorkersFirst Convention. It was a great evening of fellowship, networking, and building relationships with so many outstanding people from Alabama's construction industry.

We're grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the event a success. Opportunities like these remind us that our industry is built on more than projects—it's built on the people and partnerships that make them possible.

Manager Monday Spotlight: Daniel Knowlton

This week, we're excited to introduce Daniel Knowlton, one of our talented Project Managers at Birmingham & Associates.

Daniel first joined the BA team as an intern in the fall of 2023 while completing his degree at UAB. After graduating in the spring of 2024, he came on board full-time and has quickly become an important part of our operations team. As a Project Manager, Daniel works closely with customers, field crews, and vendors to ensure projects are planned well, executed efficiently, and completed with the quality and attention to detail our clients have come to expect.

Originally raised on a cattle farm in Arkadelphia before moving to Corner, Daniel developed a strong work ethic and appreciation for doing things the right way from an early age. He attended Wallace State Community College before earning his degree in Business Management from UAB. During those years, he gained valuable hands-on experience working for both a residential home builder and an industrial maintenance contractor—experience that continues to serve him well in his role today.

Outside of work, Daniel enjoys sporting clays, cycling, and, in his words, "changing diapers." He and his wife, Kate, recently welcomed their first child, Harlan. Daniel jokes that Harlan can be blamed for the dark circles under his eyes.

When asked which Birmingham & Associates core value means the most to him, Daniel chose Integrity.

"It's the foundation for our other two Core Values. Without principle and strong convictions you will inevitably produce shoddy work completed in an unsafe manner. Living by this value often leads to taking the long way round, but it's the right way, and that's what counts."

We are grateful for Daniel's leadership, strong character, and commitment to excellence. His willingness to do things the right way, even when it's not the easiest path, reflects the values that define Birmingham & Associates and helps make our team stronger every day.

Our President, Talmadge James, received the SubAla President's Award for serving as the 2026–2027 President of the SubAla Board of Directors. His passion for serving others, building strong relationships, and investing in the future of the construction industry makes him a tremendous leader, and we're excited to see the impact he'll have in this role.

SubAla (Subcontractors Association of Alabama) is dedicated to supporting and advancing Alabama's construction industry by bringing together subcontractors, suppliers, and industry professionals through advocacy, education, networking, workforce development, and collaboration. Their mission is to strengthen the construction community and create opportunities for the companies and people who build our state every day.

Manager Monday Spotlight: William Waites

This week we're excited to introduce William Waites, one of our Project Managers at Birmingham & Associates.

Although William has been with Birmingham & Associates for just three months, he has already made a tremendous impact through his leadership, experience, and commitment to excellence. As a Project Manager, William is responsible for leading projects from planning to completion, coordinating with customers and field teams, managing schedules and budgets, and ensuring every project is executed safely, efficiently, and with the highest level of quality.

William grew up as a military dependent, moving frequently throughout his childhood before settling in Clanton, Alabama at the age of fifteen. He went straight into the construction industry, eventually building and operating his own decorative concrete business. After successfully running and later selling his company, William brought his entrepreneurial experience and passion for construction to Birmingham & Associates.

When he's not at work, William enjoys spending time with his wife, Stacey, and their three daughters, Stevie, Morgan, and Kenzie. He is also passionate about his church, community outreach, and taking care of his yard.

When asked which Birmingham & Associates core value means the most to him, William chose Integrity.

He shared, "I've worked with people and companies in the past that are only out for themselves and lack this quality. My integrity is of the highest importance to me, and I am honored to be associated with and work for a company that shares the same values."
