**HULL 106 | Another Major Milestone**

Last week was a big one for Hull 106. The engines, generator, deck, and house were installed, bringing this custom build one step closer to the water.

Every stage of a custom Carolina boat build takes precision, planning, and a team that understands how all the pieces come together. Installing the engines is one of those milestones when the vision starts becoming reality.

Built with purpose. Crafted with care. Built the Ritchie Howell way.

It starts with a piece of raw wood.

Before it becomes a nightstand, a bunk, or part of a beautifully finished interior, it’s just the beginning of something much more refined.

At Ritchie Howell Yachts, custom yacht building is about craftsmanship in the details. Every piece of wood is carefully selected, shaped, fitted and finished with the same attention to detail we give to the yacht as a whole.

The grain matters. The fit matters. The finish matters. And the little details matter.

Because when you build a yacht from the ground up, you don't simply install an interior. You build it.

These nightstands and bunks are just a small glimpse of the time, skill and care that goes into creating a truly custom Ritchie Howell yacht.

FAUX TEAK FRIDAY - From a few feet away, you might swear this is real teak.

But take a closer look at the toe rail on this 60-foot Ritchie Howell, and you’ll see something even more impressive: Paint.

This faux teak finish was created by Ben Miller, using layers of color, grain, shading and fine brushwork to recreate the natural variation you’d find in real teak. It’s not simply painting something brown and adding a few lines. The trick is in creating the depth and irregularity of real wood—the subtle changes in tone, the grain, the knots and the way light moves across the surface.

The base colors are carefully built up before the grain is painstakingly worked in by hand. Darker and lighter tones are blended to give the finish dimension, while the grain lines are varied in direction, thickness and intensity so the finished product doesn’t look repetitive or artificial.

Which do you prefer? Real teak or faux teak? Leave your comments below.

ANYONE ELSE READY FOR THE WEEKEND? We know our cabinet maker, Chris Walker, is ready for sure! He prepped the walls for panels to accept walnut veneer last week, and as you can see, it’s time to wash up!
