We extend our deepest sympathy on the passing of Ron VandeVelde, a valued member of the Ebert Construction family. Ron was a foundational part of Ebert Construction, helping establish and lead our Bridge division from its inception in 2001 until his retirement in 2013. His legacy lives on not only through the bridges he helped build, but through the people he mentored and inspired. Our sincere condolences are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of working alongside him. He will be remembered with great respect and gratitude.

We were honored this week to celebrate our founder, Jim Ebert, at the KLICA annual convention. Jim was presented with the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award. He was honored to be a recipient of this award as this was an organization he was heavily involved in throughout his career.

Dirk Riniker, Former President & CEO of Ebert Construction was an incredible leader who was instrumental in steering the continued growth and success of our Company. He passed away on Sunday, June 9th due to late stage cancer and he will be greatly missed. Dirk’s family and our work family thank you all for your love and support at this difficult time.

WE’RE HIRING!

We have an immediate opening for a HEAVY EQUIPMENT FIELD MECHANIC.

Primary responsibility will be to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heavy construction equipment issues on the job site. Will also conduct some preventative maintenance, order parts when needed, perform minimal welding, and coordinate and prioritize repairs and maintenance with Project and/or Shop Supervisor. Fleet of equipment includes but is not limited to: dozers, scrapers, excavators, skidloaders, rollers, tractors, rock trucks (CAT, Komatsu, Volvo, John Deere.) Company service truck will be provided with welder, air compressor, crane, and locking toolboxes. Must provide your own basic tools. Valid Class A or B CDL required. Must have heavy equipment mechanic experience. Position requires occasional travel and work primarily in Kansas and Oklahoma.

Pay range - $60,000-$80,000 per year

This week, our family will celebrate the life of our Aunt Sue along with our cousins, Kim & Kelli; their families; and so many others whose lives were touched by her. She was a smart and savvy businesswoman who did not shy away from hard work and entrepreneurship throughout her life. She was a true role model and mentor to many. We wish to honor her tremendous contributions to Ebert Construction’s early operations, as she helped manage the business alongside our Uncle Pat and our dad, Jim during its first couple of decades. Dad’s respect for Sue was immense. He highly valued their partnership in business, after which they always remained devoted friends. There weren’t many pictures taken back in those early days, but we would like to share a few that we found.

Please join us in wishing a safe and meaningful trip to Washington D.C. to our founder, Jim Ebert Sr. Jim served in the US Army National Guard from 1954-1962 with much of his time spent as the Mechanic Shop Clerk where he worked on military trucks and equipment. He was selected to travel on Wamego High School’s fall Honor Flight trip which left Kansas early this morning. He is excited to be traveling with his granddaughter, Jessi Ebert (pictured) as his Student-Guardian. Also pictured is Jessi’s dad, Jim Ebert II, prior to their departure.

Last week we wrapped up our Classroom to Career Partnership with Ms. Howley's 4th Grade class at St. George Elementary. We visited their classroom several times this school year, but last week they visited us! The students learned about and sat in various types of equipment and even operated a mini excavator. They also toured one of our active job sites (thanks to our road and bridge project directly in front of our office); and we wrapped up the day with an obstacle course that even some of our employees participated in. Thanks to everyone that made this day possible! It was an awesome experience for both the students and the adults involved!
