Most homeowners never look on their roof, which makes it the perfect place for paper wasps to build a nest.
One reason I often find them around metal roof vents is because the metal absorbs heat from the sun, creating a warm, protected spot that paper wasps are naturally drawn to.
What starts as a single queen can grow into a much larger colony over the summer, so catching these nests early is much easier than dealing with a mature colony later.
It's just another reminder that some of the most important areas to inspect are the ones you rarely see.
