Sunwood Development - Wallingford Home Builder Since 1985, our family-owned business has provided top-notch new construction and remodeling services for our community.

Sunwood Development was established in 1985 with a mission to provide beautiful homes for the communities of Southern Connecticut. Co-owned by father and daughter, Bob Wiedenmann and Amy Wiedenmann, we’re a family-operated business through and through. Whether we’re working on a new home construction, remodeling, or addition project, our family values shine through. That means you can always expect us to set clear expectations, ensure your safety, and keep you updated from start to finish. As a local company, we make it a priority to use local vendors, too. Most importantly, we put your needs first -- we truly want to help you bring your visions to life!

The framing of your new custom home is up, and you can finally walk through the rooms you’ve been imagining. It’s tempting to start packing up to move in, but there’s still plenty of work ahead.

Sunwood’s latest blog explains how long it takes to build a custom home in Connecticut and why progress looks different at each stage. If you’re planning a build, it’ll help you have a more useful conversation with your builder about when you can move in.

Restoring a home built in the 1800s takes patience and a real respect for the original craftsmanship 🏡

Our team at Sunwood Development preserved the home's original hardwood floors, matched historic trim throughout, and special-ordered checkerboard tile and leather-finish granite countertops for a period-appropriate look.

We also added a laundry room and mudroom, updated the electrical and HVAC systems, and removed asbestos found during demolition.
