Installed some beautiful 6" Box style gutter with rectangular downspouts today in Houston (Bellaire). The clean lines of the box gutter and downspouts fit the modern style of the house perfectly.

Instead of traditional internal hangers, we used Senox's Aqueduct integrated screen-hanger system. The gutter cover/screen locks into top of the gutter and serves as the hanger as well.

Oh! Can't forget the rain chain! Rain chains are awesome. They can make a mess (water splashing), though, if they're the gutter's only outlet. Our solution is simple: pair it with a traditional downspout and choke-down the opening. Some water flows down the chain, most goes to the downspout. You get the great aesthetic (and sound) of a rain chain, and a super functional gutter system.

We're proud of this simple yet elegant install that's fit-for-purpose and accentuates the style of this beautiful modern home.

Estimating from blueprints today for a couple of our custom home builders.

A lot of work goes into an accurate gutter estimate before we ever arrive at the jobsite. When planning from blueprints, we start with the elevations (front, rear, L and R) to get familiar with the design, then focus in on the roof plan.

On the roof plan, we set the drawing scale and measure every eave individually from the PDF. Then we map out tentative gutter runs and ideal downspout locations.

Once takeoff is complete, we run everything through our estimating spreadsheet which uses current material pricing, expected labor, and the requirements of the individual home to price out the job.

This bottom-up process takes more time than pricing by linear footage but it results in a more accurate proposal and fewer surprises for both us and the builder.

At the end of the process, we also have a clear initial outline of gutter and downspout placement that share with the builder so they can see exactly what we're planning and make any adjustments before the ex*****on phase.

Just wrapped up this incredible farmhouse in Brenham with 6” K-style gutters in upgraded 0.032” aluminum with 4” round downspouts.

Our customer built this impressive farmhouse himself -- clean white exterior, metal roof, stonework, and massive porches across the front and back (we love the porches!!). He wanted the gutter system to look clean and fit the home without taking away from it.

This project took a little more planning than a typical gutter job. The home has 90 foot runs across the front and back, and the customer wanted to keep the downspouts only on the ends of the house if possible. That's a long way to carry water.

We considered several options -- 6” and 7” K-style, 6” half-round, and 8” half-round. We ran the engineering based on the 10-year rainfall data for his area to determine the minimum gutter size, downspout count, and downspout placement needed for the home.

The engineering showed that 6” K-style gutters would meet the system requirements while still working within the customer’s preferences.

That gave him peace of mind that he didn’t need to spend significantly more money upsizing the whole system when the 6” option would do the job.

Half-round gutters have a very different feel than standard K-style gutters.

On the right home, they add a softer, more classic look to the exterior while still doing the practical job gutters are there to do — moving water away from the roofline, walls, and foundation.

This home in Willowcreek Ranch in Tomball, TX was a great fit for that style. The brick, trim, roofline, and exterior colors all worked well with a cleaner, more traditional gutter profile. The Cameo color helped the system blend naturally into the home, while the 4" round downspouts kept the look consistent all the way down.

We love how this project came together. The gutter system is noticeable enough to add to the finished look of the home, but subtle enough that it does not take attention away from the house itself.
