Yesterday’s surprise behind Door #1… a copperhead mama and a nursery of babies! 🐍😳
This was from a project in Lake Arrowhead. We already knew this timber retaining wall had reached the end of its life and needed to be replaced—it was failing in multiple ways.
One of the biggest misconceptions about timber walls is that homeowners judge them by what they can see from the outside. While the exterior can definitely give clues, the real damage is often happening where you can’t see it.
Timbers commonly rot from the inside out, leaving them hollow while still looking “not that bad” from the front. That hidden deterioration can weaken the wall until it suddenly fails.
Those hollow timbers also become the perfect home for snakes, rodents, insects, and other critters looking for a dry, protected place to live. That creates another safety concern—especially if children or pets play around the wall.
If your timber retaining wall is leaning, bowing, separating, or simply showing its age, don’t wait until it becomes an emergency.
We’re happy to provide a free evaluation and help you create a replacement plan that fits YOUR timeline and YOUR budget—before the wall fails unexpectedly.
