A basement in Oconomowoc recently got a very nice kitchenette upgrade. Illustrious Flooring was brought in to deal with slab that was not flat and get the flooring installed. Not all projects for us have to be large.
The slab was not flat which can lead to the floating floor failing over time as the joints flex from deflection. We started by figuring out how much self level it would take to make the floor flat. Then we damned up the areas where the product did not need to go, protected the bottom 3 inches of the walls and provided expansion space. Then we primed and poured the floor. To help reduce the amount of humidity created and allow the self level to release moisture a little faster, we provided a dehumidifier as well.
Now that the slab was flat we were able to put down our 6mil plastic v***r barrier to reduce v***r emissions from the slab. Finally we got the flooring installed and made the space functional.
