How to know your dog liked their boarding stay: they walk in next time without looking back. They sniff for their spot on the couch. They eat their first meal. If they do all three, you found a real sitter.

Family Weekend wrap: 12 dogs boarded, 3 daycare drop-offs, one very old cattle dog who ruled the yard. Zero drama. Full report cards texted to every parent. This is what a good boarding weekend looks like.

Some dogs belong at the tailgate. Some dogs belong on the couch with the game on low. I keep the couch-dogs. You handle the tailgate-dogs.

🍎 Apple Orchard Week at Camp Clayton

Our campers searched, sniffed, explored, played and took some very serious post-orchard naps this week.

The activities may look cute, but there is a purpose behind them. Sniffing and problem-solving give dogs a chance to use their brains, build confidence and enjoy the day without needing nonstop high-energy play.

Not every dog does every activity. We adjust the day to the dogs in front of us.

Next week, we’re taking those noses on a new adventure.

🍂 Fall Sniffari starts Monday!

Camp Clayton is themed doggie daycare by Keep Waco Wagging.

Game day in Waco means green, gold, and a dog waiting at home. Or a dog in the tailgate. Or a dog boarded so the parents can actually enjoy the game. Pick your fighter.

A good sitter or walker does not need a novel about your dog. They need the useful handoff: the usual routine, the quirks that are perfectly normal, the emergency contact, and where the treats actually live.

That small bit of preparation turns care from guesswork into a steadier part of family logistics. Bonus points for mentioning the cupboard your dog has already investigated. A little preparation makes the care feel more personal and a lot less like guesswork.
