It started out pretty rough and needed a lot of work, but there was still something worth saving underneath it all.

We stripped it back, repaired what needed to be repaired, wrapped it, gave the exterior a completely new look, and brought the inside back to life too.

Taking something worn down that still has good bones and seeing what it can become with some work and care.

Lately I’ve been realizing that maybe there’s a reason restoration means so much to me beyond construction. The Lord has been doing some rebuilding in me too, changing how I see myself and reminding me that being worn down doesn’t mean something is worthless or beyond restoration. Our worth isn't determined by the condition He finds us in. It was settled by the price He was willing to pay for us.

Maybe that’s part of why I love this. I get to look past what something is today and see what it could become.

WHY CORNERSTONE?

Behind Cornerstone Build Co. is my why.

My wife. My kids. My faith. And a genuine love for building.

Of course I started a business to provide for my family, but over time I've realized I want Cornerstone to stand for more than just making a living.

I believe the ability to build, create, solve problems, and work with my hands is something the Lord has given me, and I want to steward that gift well.

That affects the way I want to run this company.

I want to build things I'm proud to put my name on. I want to treat people honestly. I want customers to know that when they trust me with their home, their money, and an idea that's important to them, I don't take that lightly.

I want Cornerstone to eventually be a place where other craftsmen can take pride in their work, provide for their own families, and be valued for the skill and care they bring to the job.

And I want my kids to grow up seeing that work isn't only about what you can earn from it. There can be purpose in doing something well, serving people, keeping your word, and using what God has given you faithfully.

We're still building this company. We're still learning. And I'm sure there will be plenty of challenges along the way.

But the foundation I want to build it on isn't changing.

Faith. Family. Integrity. Craftsmanship. Service.

That's the why behind Cornerstone Build Co.

And whether we're remodeling a home, building an outdoor space, or creating something completely custom, my hope is that those values show in the way we work and in what we leave behind.

Sometimes a project doesn't have to be a full remodel to make a big difference.

For this one, we added new wood railing around the existing front porch and steps, giving the entrance a safer and more finished look while working with what was already there.

Once the sun starts going down and all the lights come on, the cedar really warms up and the whole space has a completely different feel.

Definitely one of my favorite views of this project.

From a little idea to reality!

This was probably one of my favorite things I built on this project.

I had never built a corner cabinet like this before, and I spent way more time than I'd like to admit figuring out how I wanted to make it work 😂

But I knew I didn't want all that space in the corner to go to waste, so this is what I came up with. Built the cabinet, made the rotating shelves, and then tied it all into the rest of the cabinetry.

By the time it was finished, all that work was hidden behind one little door.

I know it's probably a small detail to most people, but I'm pretty proud of this one.
